Chapter Fourteen: Overbearing and Forceful
“Haha~” Watching Silver Yao shyly hide in his embrace, Chu Su Yi burst out laughing, immensely pleased with himself. But in the very next moment, his laughter was abruptly cut short.
Silver Yao was toying with a silver needle at the spot of Chu Su Yi’s heart, slowly pushing it into his chest and then twisting it gently. When she heard his laughter suddenly stop, she looked up at him with feigned innocence, her eyes sparkling with affection as if puzzled by the sudden silence.
He had been about to tell her to stop, but when their gazes met, all anger vanished in an instant. Instead, her expression made his very bones feel weak and melted.
In the next instant, he could only pray fervently that she wouldn’t make that sound—if she did, he wasn’t sure he could restrain himself. Please, anything but that!
“Su Yi~ mmm~ why did you stop laughing?” Silver Yao, true to form, did exactly what Chu Su Yi dreaded most.
Immediately, Chu Su Yi froze in midair, feeling as though he might plummet at any moment.
Seeing his reaction, Silver Yao was delighted—she had won this round. She let out a peal of silvery laughter, followed by a stream of sweet, teasing sounds.
“Su Yi, laugh for me~”
“Su Yi~”
“Yi, why aren’t you moving?”
“Yi, do you like my voice?”
“Yi~ Yi~”
Chu Su Yi had only one thought in his mind—he needed to silence her, and fast! She was threatening him with the silver needle on one hand, and seducing him with her voice on the other. He was on the verge of losing control, his heart pounding with a wild urge to do something reckless… This Silver Yao, truly…
Her soft lips continued to murmur without pause, ignoring all his threats and only growing bolder. Yet whenever he tried to take action, she’d press the needle a little deeper into his flesh, all the while maintaining that pure, innocent smile.
He pulled her tightly into his arms and kissed her, fiercely and possessively.
Chu Su Yi succeeded in silencing her. All he could hear was her muffled protests, but he didn’t care what she was saying—it couldn’t be anything good!
“Ah! You scoundrel! What the hell, you—!” Silver Yao, struggling to break free, accidentally dropped the silver needle and began pounding her fists in protest against the rogue who held her so tightly.
The more she struggled, the tighter he held her, until at last Silver Yao gave up all resistance.
Chu Su Yi had only meant to quiet her, but he found himself lost in her scent, deepening the kiss, unable to pull away.
When they returned to the Chu family estate, the Marquis’s son was already waiting in the main hall—such a mysterious and enchanting woman could not be so easily taken away! And what of his pride?
Yet—when he saw the two of them descend from the sky, locked in a passionate embrace and kiss, he could barely contain his fury.
Did they have any respect for him at all? For the Marquis’s household? This was truly outrageous! For a mere Alliance Leader to dare treat him this way!
Landing, Chu Su Yi still had his arm wrapped around Silver Yao, smiling serenely as he approached. Silver Yao, her face flushed scarlet from their earlier intimacy, buried her head against his chest, looking every inch the demure, dependent beauty. Chu Su Yi’s smile only grew brighter.
In a desperate bid to salvage his dignity, the Marquis’s son roared—he had brought many elders with him, after all! And he had even gone through the wedding rites with her! Surely these venerable elders would take his side.
“Return my bride to me!” he declared, full of righteous indignation.
“Oh? And who is your bride?” Chu Su Yi replied, calm and unconcerned, as if everything was well within his control.
“Who do you think!” the Marquis’s son shouted, glaring at Chu Su Yi with all his might.
“You mean her? Haha~ Everyone knows the woman you married is the General’s daughter. But this girl—she is not!” With that, Chu Su Yi turned Silver Yao’s face for all to see.
“This is not the General’s daughter!”
“That’s right, that’s right,” the elders nodded in agreement after seeing Silver Yao’s face. The advantage immediately shifted to Chu Su Yi. Wasn’t this just the Marquis’s son making trouble for himself? As the crowd began to murmur, the Marquis’s son leaned in and whispered furiously to Chu Su Yi, “Sir Chu, this isn’t decent of you! Where am I to put my pride?”
“Oh.” Chu Su Yi pretended sudden realization.
“Haha!” Silver Yao, listening openly from the side, could not help but burst out laughing. This man was simply too amusing!
The Marquis’s son flushed with embarrassment at Silver Yao’s reaction.
“Brother, you mustn’t like other women!” came a childish voice.
Silver Yao looked over to see a little girl, tear-stained and running toward them. “And who is she?” she asked.
“Silver Bell!” the Marquis’s son answered quickly.
“She’s Young Master Chu’s childhood sweetheart. The two of them have been inseparable since they were young, and wherever Master Chu goes, he brings her along. Their bond is truly exceptional!” This was information the Marquis’s son had gathered when he was trying to court Silver Bell himself.
“Oh~” Silver Yao drawled, giving Chu Su Yi a long, meaningful look. Yet his expression remained unchanged. Only then did she notice that Silver Bell’s name differed from her own by a single character. Something was off—very off indeed!
“Childhood sweethearts? She’s just an orphan I took in out of kindness,” Chu Su Yi replied coolly, his composure so unfaltering that Silver Yao felt stifled. Was he explaining himself to her? It didn’t really seem so. Nor was there any need.
She disentangled herself from his arms and walked away with poise.
“Ling’er, be good, don’t cry. I won’t steal your brother from you,” Silver Yao said, taking Silver Bell’s hand sincerely, but not forgetting to cast Chu Su Yi a teasing glance.
“Really? But why are you wearing a red wedding dress?” Silver Bell remained unconvinced.
“Of course it’s true. Why would I lie to you, Ling’er? If you don’t like this dress, I’ll just take it off!”
With that, Silver Yao began to undo her gown, preparing to remove the fiery red wedding attire in front of everyone.
The elders wanted to intervene, while the Marquis’s son hesitated. Silver Bell, thinking Silver Yao wore nothing beneath the wedding dress, hurried to stop her. Only Chu Su Yi watched all this with a smile, unmoved.
Silver Yao smiled reassuringly at everyone.
She took off the red wedding gown, but beneath she wore a simple blue dress—there was no glimpse of jade-like skin.
Silver Bell suddenly thought her older sister looked even more beautiful now; though she lacked the earlier flamboyant red, she now possessed a fresh elegance, and there seemed to be an invisible aura about her. Silver Bell immediately stopped crying, staring at her in a daze.
The elders, meanwhile, found the new bride their Alliance Leader had brought back strikingly familiar, as if they’d seen her before—especially her commanding presence, which reminded them of one person: the Serpent Lady. Yet the Serpent Lady had never revealed her full face. Who exactly was this woman?
Gently wiping the tears from Silver Bell’s eyes, Silver Yao took her by the hand and led her to Chu Su Yi’s side, then placed both their hands together. She said nothing.
And then, she walked alone to stand before the gathered elders, and knelt.
