Chapter 128: Methods for Breaking Soul-Forbidden Arts
"What? You say there are five people who have returned to the Void Continent this time?! This, this is impossible! We were already surprised enough that you were able to return, but how did the five of you manage it? Those spatial talismans are not so easily torn!" The Grand Elder exclaimed, and not just him—the other elders all wore expressions of utter disbelief.
Li Su nodded. It seemed that tearing a spatial talisman was indeed no ordinary feat; otherwise, these old men would not be so astonished. Moreover, judging by their reactions, they did not even know the method to tear a spatial talisman. Why, then, did Yao’er’s father know?
The white fox in his arms shifted, drawing Li Su’s attention. Li Su looked down: "What is it?" The white fox blinked her large eyes: "Tell them how we returned." Li Su nodded; perhaps Yin knew something.
"It is like this," Li Su replied respectfully. "We were able to return because the father of one of our friends provided the method. We followed the instructions given by that senior to make our way back."
The Grand Elder nodded, pondering for a moment. He seemed to recall something and looked at his brothers. Seeing that they were thinking of the same person, his eyes lit up: "Li Su, do you know the name of your friend's father?"
Li Su thought for a moment and replied, "It is Senior Qin Mo."
"It really is him! Qin Mo!"
"That makes sense. Perhaps only Qin Mo would dare to break the curse that those who go to the Barren Continent cannot return to the Void Continent!"
"Qin Mo! Back then, I even hoped that after he went to the Barren Continent, he could help me bring back some of the Li family descendants! I never imagined he would actually succeed!"
The elders were deeply stirred. From their words, it was clear that their relationship with Qin Mo was quite significant, and that they had even relied on him for help. What kind of person was Qin Mo, exactly?
Once the old men had calmed down, Li Su asked, "What is it? Was Senior Qin Mo a friend of yours, Grandfathers?"
"Something like that! Qin Mo is a rare genius, perhaps even a brilliant eccentric! Back then, he was the only one who dared to declare that he would bring people back from the Barren Continent!" The Second Elder nodded with a smile, seemingly lost in memory.
This was the first time Li Su had learned about Yin’s father. He was surprised to find that Senior Qin Mo was such an extraordinary person, and his curiosity only grew.
Yin, in her fox form, was in a good mood. Although she knew something about her father, this was the first time she had heard others speak of him, and she couldn't help but feel excited.
"By the way, what about your friend? From what you say, it seems your friend must be the child of Qin Mo and the Spirit Fox tribe’s Spirit Maiden, Yin Hu!" The Third Elder was very eager to see Qin Mo’s child. He wondered if she was anything like her father.
Li Su could not answer this directly. As Yin was currently in her fox form, she could not reveal her identity. He looked down at her, seeking her advice: *Yin, what should we do now?*
The white fox’s eyes rolled: *Tell them that my friend will come to find you tonight. Tell them to wait until evening. By then, I will have returned to my human form to meet these seniors, and I can explain the purpose of my visit.*
"It is like this: Yin and I took different paths. If all goes well, she should arrive here by tonight, and she will come to find me then. You will be able to see her this evening," Li Su said with a gentle smile.
The elders nodded, agreeing to wait until nightfall.
"Li Su, tell us how you managed to return," the Grand Elder said, standing with his hands behind his back. He was very curious about what method Qin Mo had devised.
"Senior Qin Mo had his daughter, Yin, find the descendants of the four major families who had been exiled to the Barren Continent, as well as myself. The five of us gathered at a spot designated by Senior Qin Mo and exerted our full spiritual power. In that place, our power automatically fused into a single, formidable force, gradually breaking the talisman above. Before I arrived here, I encountered the Guardian of the Spatial Talisman. At first, I thought it was just a legend, but I didn't expect a guardian to truly exist. He allowed me to return to the Void Continent," Li Su explained as concisely as he could.
"Haha, the Guardian of the Spatial Talisman! He is a powerhouse of his generation! And he has a good relationship with Qin Mo! As the guardian, he cannot easily let people return unless the heads of the four major families agree. I suspect that you were able to enter because Qin Mo spoke to the guardian beforehand," the Second Elder said, stroking his beard with relish.
Li Su was struck by a sudden realization. Senior Qin Mo’s friends were truly not simple! Even the Guardian of the Spatial Talisman would secretly allow people to return for his sake! How many friends and how much prestige did he have in this world?
Yin recalled her own experience as a soul entity appearing before the Guardian, his surprise, and then his act of shaking his head and sending her back to the Spirit Fox territory. It seemed he had understood, though she didn't know if he had told her father about her and her sister's situation.
"I truly wish to pay a visit to Senior Qin Mo!" Li Su said from the bottom of his heart.
To his surprise, this triggered panic among the elders, leaving him curious: "Grandfathers, what is wrong? Has Senior Qin Mo met with some misfortune?"
The white fox in his arms poked her head out, not wanting to miss a single detail. She only knew her father was alive, but she didn't know his current situation or where he was.
"Enough! If we are to speak of it, we will wait until your friend, Qin Mo's daughter, arrives. Consider it a favor to Qin Mo," the Grand Elder said, shaking his head with a trace of sorrow.
Yin felt a pang of disappointment, but she knew she could ask once she returned to human form.
The Third Elder escorted Li Su away, while the others remained in the ancestral hall, lost in thought.
Night fell.
In Li Su’s room, the white fox had transformed into her human form. Yin stood by the table, lost in thought.
"Li Su, let’s go," Yin said, shaking off her distant thoughts and beckoning to him.
"Are you sure you want us to go together?" Li Su frowned.
"Let's go. I have my own plans," Yin smiled.
In the ancestral hall, the four elders sat in their respective seats, waiting for Yin’s arrival.
"Third brother, why don't you go outside and check? I fear that the young lady might be blocked," the Grand Elder decided. Their family was unique, and he worried that the guards would not let an outsider pass.
The Third Elder nodded and stood up to leave. "Third Elder," Li Su called out when he saw him.
The Third Elder looked up to see Li Su, accompanied by a woman of stunning beauty. Could she be Qin Mo’s daughter?
"And this is?"
"Third Elder, this is Senior Qin Mo’s daughter, Yin."
"Greetings, Third Elder. I am the daughter of Qin Mo and Yin Hu, Yin."
"Oh, good. Let us head in," the Third Elder said, suppressing his curiosity.
For some reason, the Third Elder felt a strange sense of familiarity with Yin, as if they had met before. But Yin had only just arrived here! It was truly bizarre.
"Greetings to the elders of the Hidden Li family. This junior is the daughter of Qin Mo and Yin Hu," Yin said, bowing gracefully, displaying the poise of a noble lady.
"So you are Qin Mo’s daughter! Very well. But how did you manage to get in, child?" The Grand Elder smiled kindly. The Li family did not allow people in at will; whenever someone entered, someone would always notify them. Yet, when this girl named Yin arrived, no one had come to inform him!
Li Su looked at Yin, and seeing her nod, he remained silent.
Now in human form and at the peak of her strength, Yin suddenly unleashed four bursts of spiritual energy, striking directly at the four elders.
"You! You are that fox?!" The Fourth Elder clutched his slightly dizzy head and shouted at Yin!
It was no surprise that he reacted so quickly; Yin had intentionally used spiritual attacks on all four of them while she was in her fox form. Doing it again was simply a way to let them know who she was!
If Yin was indeed that fox, it explained why she had entered the Li family residence without anyone reporting it! But the way she shifted between human and fox…
Yin nodded cutely. The spiritual attacks she had unleashed were not fierce; they merely caused a momentary dizziness that would pass quickly.
"Human form, white fox… wait, wait a moment. Miss Yin, did you use that forbidden soul art?!" The Second Elder suddenly became agitated, gesturing wildly.
Yin had not expected someone to figure it out before she could even explain! It seemed the Hidden Li family truly had their ways! She hoped they would not disappoint her.
"Yes. I am surprised that the Second Elder could guess it just by my two different forms!" Yin replied with a smile, though only those who understood the forbidden soul art knew its dangers. It was a testament to her composure that she could still smile.
"No, no, Miss Yin, you flatter me. I think anyone who has heard of it would be able to recognize it," the Second Elder said, waving his hand. He was impressed by her attitude.
"Li Su, why don't you step out for a moment? We have some matters to discuss with Miss Yin," the Grand Elder said, standing up and offering a kind smile to Li Su.
Li Su hesitated; he did not understand why they could not speak in his presence. At that moment, Yin turned around: "Li Su, you should go back first. I will return once I have consulted with the elders."
Having no choice, Li Su left.
"Please sit, Miss Yin. I believe you must have a reason for coming to see us! Please speak plainly; we will do everything in our power to help," the Grand Elder said. The atmosphere grew serious, and the smile on his face faded.
"I believe the elders have already guessed the purpose of my visit! The forbidden soul art affects two people! So, I have come to ask you to teach me the method to undo it," Yin said, dropping all pretenses.
The four elders exchanged glances and decided to let the Third Elder speak: "Miss Yin, it is not that we are unwilling, but we are not even certain if it is feasible! You know as well as we do that the forbidden soul art has always been considered unsolvable. Our Hidden Li family only obtained the lost method by chance, and we have never tested it. We do not know if the method is correct, so we dare not hand it over so rashly."
Yin smiled gently: "Elders, do not worry. I will take full responsibility for the consequences. If it fails, it is my own mistake and I will blame no one. If it succeeds, I will naturally be sure to properly thank you."
Seeing her persistence, the elders could not refuse, but they truly dared not hand over the method easily. No one knew if the instructions were accurate!
Seeing their hesitation, Yin knew she could not waste more time: "Please trust me! I have no other choice! I must find a way quickly; if I don't, it won't be long before I lose control, and my own spiritual energy will begin to devour my sister!"
"What?!" The exclamation came from the Third Elder.
"It is like this: I inherited too much power from my mother and father. Originally, the power was meant to be sealed within my sister, but by coincidence, I absorbed it. Now my power is too great, and if this continues, it will truly begin to devour her!" This was the first time Yin had revealed why her power was so immense!
Yin Hu had intended for that power to keep Yin Yao safe, never imagining that it would be absorbed by her other daughter instead!
"Very well, we will tell you, and we hope the method is correct!" The four elders chose to agree.
"The method is not actually difficult; it requires the creation of a new physical body. But this body is not ordinary! It must be forged from nine rare spiritual items, and the success rate is not one hundred percent! In fact, we have been collecting these nine items, hoping to test it one day. Over the years, we have gathered seven," the Grand Elder said, giving Yin a massive surprise!
"Then what are the remaining two?" Yin asked impatiently.
"Heh, don't be hasty. They are not easy to find. One is the Spirit of Air, and the other is the Spirit of Water! They are the things people need most, which is why they are so hard to obtain!"
"I will find them! Do you have any information on these two items?" Yin’s eyes shone with hope.
The Grand Elder gestured to the Fourth Elder, who understood and left. After a while, he returned holding a plain wooden box. "Miss Yin, these are the seven items. Do not open the box until you have found the other two! The information on the remaining items is in a hidden compartment at the bottom of the box. Also, these spiritual items have an affinity for one another, so do not be too anxious."
Yin took the box and thanked them repeatedly. She would study the information carefully and then set off immediately.
