134 A Newfound Respect
"Fine, I'll say it. It’s a case of the pot calling the kettle black, and we all know each other well enough!" Wang Zhilie summoned the courage of a man facing his execution. "The shortest time was... about two minutes."
"Hahaha..."
Upon hearing this answer, all the men present burst into laughter.
"What are you laughing at? What’s so funny? The question was for the shortest time, not the longest. Who hasn't had a moment of impatience? For all I know, you guys might be even worse when you're in a hurry!" Wang Zhilie retorted, stiffening his neck.
Yin Xiaoya leaned over to Chen Yuxi and whispered, "Is it really that funny? Look at them—they act like they've been injected with stimulants. Why is the male sense of humor so low? I don't find it funny at all."
Chen Yuxi was speechless, unsure of what to say. Her best friend was a total "bimbo"—a pure, naive girl with no ulterior motives who insisted on labeling herself a gold-digger and felt no shame about it. It infuriated Chen Yuxi to see her friend misunderstood by so many, yet her friend didn't care in the slightest. It was a case of the bystander being more anxious than the person involved.
"This isn't the place to talk about it. I'll explain it to you in detail when we get back. Topics like this between men are things you'll naturally understand once you have a boyfriend." Given the occasion, Chen Yuxi could only give a vague response.
Wang Zhilie didn't want to be the target of everyone's teasing any longer, so he quickly changed the subject. "Student Yin Xiaoya, it's my turn to ask you a question. Are you ready?"
The previous questions had been too explicit, and Yin Xiaoya was genuinely intimidated. She quickly said, "I thought this game was Truth or Dare? I’m not choosing Truth; can I choose Dare instead?"
Li Wenxuan interjected, "That's my fault for not being clear. While the game is Truth or Dare, we only have the 'Truth' segment here, not the 'Dare' one. Since this is a public place, dares aren't really appropriate. If we were having a party at home, we could include them."
Hearing Li Wenxuan's explanation, Yin Xiaoya had no choice but to accept reality. Nervously, she said, "Go ahead and ask, but I’m telling you in advance: if it involves my privacy, I might not answer. I’ll choose to drink instead."
"Don't worry. I wouldn't dare overstep with our campus belle."
Wang Zhilie thought for a moment and asked, "When did you give away your first kiss?"
Since they were all classmates, this shouldn't be too excessive for a female student, and even if she chose to tell the truth, it shouldn't cause any negative repercussions.
Hearing such a simple question, Yin Xiaoya immediately laughed and answered straightforwardly, "Looks like you’re going to be disappointed—my first kiss is still mine."
Wang Zhilie looked at her with skepticism. "You’re a girl, and our vicious curses won't work on you. I’ll give you a privilege: if you really don't want to answer, you can drink instead, but you absolutely cannot lie."
Yin Xiaoya said sincerely, "I'm not lying. My first kiss really hasn't been given away yet."
Seeing the suspicious looks from everyone at the table, Yin Xiaoya felt aggrieved but didn't know how to explain herself.
"What an act. She's clearly a gold-digger, yet she insists on playing the innocent act. Who would believe that?"
Tan Songjun’s voice wasn't loud, but in the silence that followed, Yin Xiaoya heard it clearly.
Like a ruffled kitten, she pouted angrily. "So what if I'm a gold-digger? Can't a gold-digger keep herself pure? I like money—is that a crime? I think I'm pretty, and I want to marry a rich husband. Is that not allowed?"
"You've already admitted you're a gold-digger, yet you act so pure—you still have your first kiss? Do you really think anyone here believes you?" Tan Songjun looked at Yin Xiaoya with a sneer.
"How am I acting? You think everyone is as good at putting on a show as you are? Can't a gold-digger have self-respect? Even if I have a boyfriend, the most I’ll do is hold hands. Anything more intimate has to wait until after marriage," Yin Xiaoya stated as if it were the most natural thing in the world.
"You certainly sound righteous, but do you think we believe you?" Judging others by her own standards, Tan Songjun didn't believe a word Yin Xiaoya said.
Chen Yuxi felt compelled to stand up for her best friend. "I’ve shared a room with Xiaoya for four years, and I know her better than anyone. I can vouch that she’s telling the truth. Xiaoya might be a little silly, but she’s the most innocent person of our age I’ve ever met. She keeps calling herself a gold-digger, but she’s actually very conservative. If she weren't so conservative—to the point where those so-called boyfriends with ulterior motives couldn't handle it—Yang Yunlang wouldn't have had a change of heart and set his sights on someone like you."
The sudden mention of Yang Yunlang caused a look of panic to flash in Tan Songjun’s eyes.
She could have slapped herself!
Drinking too much was a mistake. She had intended to avoid conflict with Yin Xiaoya and Chen Yuxi, planning to endure whatever happened to prevent a scene that might affect her relationship with Lu Qiang.
Tan Songjun was terrified that Yin Xiaoya would continue talking about Yang Yunlang, but fortunately, Wang Zhilie interrupted. "It seems we were the ones who misunderstood the beautiful Yin. Intelligent people have their own judgment and don't just follow the crowd. I believe she’s telling the truth. This answer of yours has truly changed our perspective."
"Beautiful Yin, you can ask your question now." In other circumstances, watching beautiful women tear each other apart might have been entertaining, but it wasn't appropriate here. Wang Zhilie didn't want to be the peacemaker, but he had no choice.
"Is it my turn to ask? How wonderful!" Yin Xiaoya was delighted, her eyes crinkling with joy as she instantly forgot the unpleasantness. "Little Xixi, are you ready? My question is going to be sharp!"
"Underestimating me, are you? Who do you think I am? I’m a total tomboy! Ask whatever you want—I guarantee I’ll answer truthfully and won't lie," Chen Yuxi said boldly.
"So confident, are you? I was going to ask something simple to let you off the hook, but since you're so confident, wouldn't it be a disappointment if I didn't play along?" A mischievous smirk appeared on Yin Xiaoya’s lips.
"You silly girl, you only know how to bully those closest to you. I see how it is now—you're just as treacherous as the rest."
