"Xu Juan, why is it you again?" At that moment, Lu Hao looked at Xu Juan, and a shadow clouded his face.

Xu Juan immediately rushed over, helping Sun Wenguo up, her eyes blazing with anger as she stared at Song Xiong.

"Why do you keep hurting Wenguo? Is it just because he took me away from your side?"

"Don’t think you’re so great just because you’ve made some shady friends now, Lu Hao. All you’re doing is making me despise you even more."

Lu Hao’s face grew despondent and speechless at her words. He never imagined that his ex-girlfriend could be so muddleheaded. He had even been willing to scrape together a ten-thousand-yuan bride price for her in the past. Not only was she selfish and greedy, but also astonishingly foolish—she still hadn’t realized that it was Sun Wenguo who’d been causing him trouble all along.

"And who might this be?" At this point, Song Xiong had intended to deal with this woman as well, perhaps even knock her out. But, uncertain of her identity or her relationship with Lu Hao, he hesitated, turning to Lu Hao for guidance.

Lu Hao regarded Song Xiong calmly and said, "Mr. Song, this is a personal matter. Let me handle it myself."

"Alright," Song Xiong nodded. After all, it wasn’t right for an outsider to meddle in these affairs between a man and a woman.

Just then, Zhang Qingfan stepped up beside Lu Hao, as if to bolster him. She said to Xu Juan, "It doesn’t matter what you’re here for today. If you’re here to make trouble, we’ll face you to the end. Don’t think Lu Hao is afraid of you."

Xu Juan looked at the tall, strikingly beautiful Zhang Qingfan standing beside Lu Hao and, for reasons she couldn’t explain, a sharp pang of jealousy rose within her, leaving her deeply unsettled. But she couldn’t utter a word. For her, Lu Hao was someone from the past.

Meanwhile, as Xu Juan was helping Sun Wenguo, his face flickered with hesitation. Seizing the opportunity, he dashed outside, taking refuge among the gang of loafers lurking at the door.

At that moment, the Sun family’s demolition crew arrived—something Sun Wenguo had arranged in advance.

Sun Wenguo glared at Lu Hao. "Lu Hao, you bastard! You’ve humiliated me time and again—how could I swallow this? Today, I’ll have this so-called Azure Dragon Clinic of yours torn down. I’ll have your life!"

Right on cue, the roar of excavators echoed behind him.

The machines—four or five excavators and bulldozers—had already stopped just outside Wang De’s house, less than twenty meters away.

"I don’t believe you can stop me this time!" Sun Wenguo’s face twisted with mania. His willingness to resort to such thuggish means wasn’t reckless bravado; it was because he now enjoyed his uncle’s tacit approval. He’d concocted a story for Sun Linhai, painting Lu Hao as an utterly depraved villain.

Sun Linhai had fallen for the tale, truly believing that it was Lu Hao’s car that had left his daughter, Sun Zihuan, a vegetable. As a reward for his supposed courage in revealing the truth, Sun Linhai had decided to grant Sun Wenguo a portion of the Sun Group’s authority. After all, Sun Linhai was a prominent member of the family’s younger generation.

Lu Hao watched the massive excavators rolling toward him, his expression grave. "Sun Wenguo, are you insane? Do you realize you’re breaking the law?"

Sun Wenguo sneered. "Breaking the law? I’ve told you before—here in Peach Blossom Village, I am the law. I do as I please. You don’t get a say. Today, I’ll see if you really have three heads and six arms to stop me!"

Backed by the excavators, Sun Wenguo grew ever more arrogant. Soon, a man in a Sun Group security uniform walked up behind him—Xu Sen, Xu Juan’s younger brother, whom Lu Hao had previously encountered in a restaurant.

Xu Sen cast a sycophantic look at his brother-in-law before saying, "Brother-in-law, I’ve got the person you asked for. She’s right outside."

"Bring her in. Let Lu Hao have a good look," Sun Wenguo replied, a cruel smile curving his lips.

"Alright." Xu Sen shot a smug glance at Lu Hao. The humiliation he’d suffered at the Arab restaurant still rankled, and now, at last, he had his chance for revenge. Lu Hao, you messed with me, fine—but you even dared provoke my brother-in-law. I think you must be tired of living.

Soon, Xu Sen returned, dragging a woman along. She was streaked with gray in her hair, her face worn and haggard, with dark bruises shadowing her eyes. It was Lu Hao’s mother, Liu Xiulan.

She had just been chatting with her friend Aunt Pan at the village entrance when the Sun Group’s men grabbed her, roughing her up indiscriminately. They’d barked, "Your son’s debts are your problem now," and Liu Xiulan, honest and meek all her life, hadn’t dared fight back. Hearing it was about her son, she kept asking if he’d done something wrong, but they ignored her, raining down blows on her regardless.

Now, Liu Xiulan stood before Sun Wenguo, bewildered and battered. "Oh, what are you doing? My son is opening his clinic today—are you here to tear it down? Gentlemen, I beg you, it wasn’t easy for my son to open this clinic. He must’ve borrowed money for it all. Why make things so hard for him? Please, I beg you, have mercy and let him go!"

Realizing what was happening, Liu Xiulan pleaded desperately with Sun Wenguo and his men.

Sun Wenguo scoffed. "Auntie Liu, I remember we saw each other in the village before. Back then, you were working as a waitress in a restaurant. I saw how hard it was for a woman your age to serve dishes, so I tossed you two hundred yuan as a tip. You thanked me profusely. But your son—he’s gone astray. He came to my door, killed my dog, and slapped me around. How do you think I should treat him?"

His expression turned vicious. "Now I’m going to bulldoze his clinic. I’ll make sure he never opens it again!"
