He still wore the stethoscope he had kept around his ears for years, and the brown-rimmed reading glasses made him resemble a wise old physician. Just as he turned away, unwilling to deal with these people and ready to continue examining the patients, a figure suddenly caught his eye, brightening his expression.

"Lu Hao, you're here!" He stepped forward excitedly and patted Lu Hao’s shoulder.

"Yes. Sister Cuihua told me there was a car accident here, and the situation is very dangerous. She asked me to come and take a look," Lu Hao nodded.

"This is wonderful," Director Chen adjusted his glasses with excitement. Lu Hao was one of the few college graduates in the village, and, more importantly, he was from the medical university.

"Now that you’re here, perhaps things will improve. You don’t know how close these people are to driving me mad. Today, a patient arrived—said to be someone of extraordinary status, the heiress of a major conglomerate, passing through our highway..." Director Chen rambled, eager to explain the situation to Lu Hao, but Lu Hao shook his head.

"Let's see the patients first," he said.

"Alright, alright," Director Chen hurriedly led Lu Hao into the treatment room.

As soon as he drew aside the curtain, three severely injured victims appeared before Lu Hao, shocking him.

"I thought it was only one person? Why are there three?" Lu Hao asked.

"In fact, there were five in total. Two didn’t make it on the way here..." Director Chen replied awkwardly.

"These three still have a breath left. We might be able to save them."

Hearing this, Lu Hao’s expression turned grave; he hadn’t expected their injuries to be so dire.

The young woman lying in the center was especially alarming: a large piece of metal from the car’s body was lodged in her shoulder, her right arm twisted at an unnatural angle, and a patch of skin on her leg exposed. Despite the layers of medical bandages, the blood continued to flow.

The other two were also horribly wounded—one man’s neck was dislocated, his body folded upon itself, a sight too terrifying to describe.

"Is there any hope?" Director Chen now asked, his voice carrying the faith his generation placed in medical university graduates.

"I can’t say for sure. With injuries like these, I can’t guarantee the outcome. Their survival depends on fate," Lu Hao replied, disinfecting his hands and arms as he prepared to work.

Just then, a tall man in a black uniform, with an imposing physique and a stern face, clearly trained in martial arts, blocked Lu Hao and spoke.

"Director, what are you doing? Who is this man? Is he from your clinic?" He eyed Lu Hao warily, as if scrutinizing an enemy.

Director Chen hastened to explain, "Mr. Gao Long, he’s a top medical student from our village, far more skilled than any of us. If he can help, the situation might improve."

"Is that so?" Gao Long narrowed his eyes at Lu Hao. "Director Chen, didn’t you say the clinic’s current capabilities can’t provide any better treatment for these injuries?"

"Whether he’s here or not, isn’t it the same? I think we should forget it. The more people involved, the more chaotic it becomes. I’m afraid your treatment will only make things worse for our young lady."

He blocked Lu Hao, refusing to let him intervene.

Lu Hao frowned. "Move aside. If you delay treatment, will you answer for her life? She is already critically wounded, with massive bleeding and organ damage. She could die."

Gao Long replied coldly, "I don’t trust you anymore."

He was a retired elite from the army’s special forces, now serving as bodyguard to Miss Shang. His training included specialized wound care, giving him a certain level of judgment in handling injuries.

By his assessment, their young lady’s injuries could not withstand any further intervention without posing grave danger. Given the clinic’s limited equipment and skills, no more treatment should be attempted.

"I said no, and that’s final. Our young lady is not a guinea pig for your experiments. With her condition, there’s no room for mistakes," Gao Long insisted.

Lu Hao glared at him, "So what do you propose—wait for her to recover on her own? Or hope the ambulance arrives, then spend two more hours getting her to a big hospital?"

"That’s… Well, you don’t need to worry about it," Gao Long replied, frowning.

He could only assume the worst about strangers. He believed Lu Hao had come because he’d heard of their young lady’s distinguished status and wanted to risk intervention for wealth.

If anything happened, Lu Hao would not be able to bear the responsibility.

"Move," Lu Hao demanded.

"This is our company’s business, nothing to do with you. You’d best stay out of it," Gao Long said coldly. "Besides, why should I trust you? Are you confident?"

Lu Hao simply glanced at Gao Long and said, "Are you infertile?"

Gao Long’s expression changed instantly. "How did you know?"

"I could tell. Will you move now?" Lu Hao asked, frowning.

"You…" Gao Long furrowed his brows in confusion, stunned that Lu Hao could see through his condition so easily.

Could he truly be a miracle doctor?

He hesitated. If Lu Hao could really save their Miss Shang…

"Alright. Since you spotted my issue at a glance, you may proceed," Gao Long said, seemingly making up his mind.

He stepped aside. "If you can save Miss Shang, our Shang Group will reward you handsomely. Even a small token from us would be enough for you to live in comfort for a lifetime."

Lu Hao waved this off. "Let’s talk about that after she’s healed. Don’t distract me from my work."

He then approached the young woman lying before him.

"Let’s start with her," Lu Hao said, examining her wounds closely.

As he looked, he noticed that despite the savage injuries, Miss Shang’s figure was remarkably athletic—clearly a woman accustomed to sports.

"If that’s the case, her chances of survival have increased," he thought.
