Chapter Fourteen: Sister Chu Takes Action
Brother Chen never imagined, even in his dreams, that he would be beaten so badly as to spin three or four times in the air before crashing to the ground. The moment his face touched the earth, it swelled instantly.
"Goddammit! Get rid of him for me!" Brother Chen erupted in fury, the pain coursing through him like fire.
"Just wait—I'll call some more brothers over. You're not getting away. Today, I'll make sure you lose an arm and a leg."
At that moment, five or six thugs encircled Lu Hao; one even pulled out a knife, ready to attack him. The situation grew increasingly tense.
Lu Hao stood protectively in front of Sun Yunzhao, already holding a silver needle.
"Don't worry. Nothing will happen with me here," Lu Hao reassured Sun Yunzhao behind him.
"It's all my fault, everything is because of me," Sun Yunzhao's eyes filled with anxiety.
If only she hadn't argued with her boyfriend and given him the money, none of this would have happened.
Just then, as she pulled out her phone, it was immediately slapped to the ground.
"You dare talk big at the entrance of Blue Rose?" A woman's voice rang out coolly.
Brother Chen turned and saw a pale-skinned woman in a black uniform, staring at him with icy eyes.
It was Sister Chu.
"You dare knock my phone out of my hand? Aren't you afraid I'll deal with you?" Brother Chen flashed a hint of provocativeness.
But before he finished speaking, Sister Chu slapped him across the face.
"You want to deal with me? Go ahead, try it," her scornful voice sounded again.
Brother Chen was slapped so hard he momentarily lost his senses.
"Damn it, he dares hit me, you dare hit me—do you two really not want to live?" Brother Chen was on the verge of madness.
Behind him, a mocking voice sounded, "Who are you saying doesn't want to live?"
"In Hong County, I've never seen anyone dare speak to Blue Rose like that."
"Do you know Sister Chu?"
At these words, Brother Chen's brows furrowed.
He seemed to vaguely recall hearing that name before.
Sister Chu?
Gradually, some terrifying memories surfaced.
Sister Chu, in all of Hong County and even L City, was a figure of immense influence.
She was the manager and financial director of Blue Rose, an original shareholder as well. She had handled cases like the Xishuangbanna incident, mediated multiple violent gang conflicts in Hong County, and possessed vast connections. Her enforcers were notorious for their strength.
She was absolutely not someone a local tough like him could provoke.
Brother Chen's expression changed instantly. "Sister Chu? You... Ah, you come and go so mysteriously, I didn't recognize you for a moment. How could I dare say anything to you? Look at my mouth."
He was nothing more than a street thug, collecting debts and roughing people up for the casino, supplementing his income with small loans.
Against a boss like Sister Chu, he was utterly insignificant.
"Sister Chu, I really didn't recognize you. Otherwise, with my guts, how would I dare?" he said, laughing as he slapped himself.
Sister Chu frowned, recalling, "You're called Chen Qi, right?"
Su Jie, standing nearby, stepped forward and quietly explained the situation to her.
"Oh, you're one of Wang Hu's men, aren't you?" Sister Chu realized.
Someone like Chen Qi was beneath her notice in daily life.
"No wonder you're so arrogant. Turns out you actually have some grounds for it," Sister Chu sneered.
Upon hearing this, cold sweat broke out on Chen Qi's face.
Just the way she spoke made it clear—even his boss Wang Hu would be nothing but deferential before her.
He truly couldn't understand how someone like Lu Hao—quiet, gentle, utterly lacking any underworld aura—could possibly know a ruthless figure like Sister Chu.
For a moment, he knew there was no way out without bloodshed today.
He thought it over and realized what he had to do.
Gritting his teeth, he called Wu Jian over.
Wu Jian tried to escape, but at Chen Qi's command, the underlings dragged him back.
"Damn you!" Chen Qi seized him by the collar and roared, "You dare set me up!"
He slapped Wu Jian seven or eight times across the face.
"You idiot, did you even look—do you think you can provoke this gentleman? Huh? And you called me here?"
"Sir, I swear, before today I didn't know you, nor that you were Sister Chu's acquaintance. If I had known, I wouldn't have come even if I had ten guts."
"It's all this guy's fault."
After speaking, Chen Qi, worried Lu Hao would resent him, gave Wu Jian another six or seven hard slaps.
Wu Jian was stunned, nearly losing his soul from the beating.
He never expected that his girlfriend would become involved with such a dangerous figure.
Even Chen Qi was afraid of him.
What chance did he have?
Chen Qi dragged Wu Jian by the hair and said,
"Sir, it's all this kid's fault. He's always up to no good, gambling every day, borrowing money everywhere, even beating his girlfriend."
"He's not worthy of your woman. I'll teach him a lesson for you today."
With that, Chen Qi ordered his men to hold Wu Jian while he laid into him again.
This time, Wu Jian was beaten so badly he couldn't even crawl.
He would never forget the humiliation of this day for the rest of his life.
"Get out," Lu Hao said, unwilling to endure Wu Jian's presence any longer—he was simply disgusting.
He couldn't understand what Sun Yunzhao saw in this abusive gambler.
"Thank you, sir, thank you!" Chen Qi gratefully punched Wu Jian twice more, then fled with his gang without so much as a backward glance.
They acted as though Lu Hao was the King of Hell himself.
"Sister Chu, thank you for helping us," Sun Yunzhao said gratefully, looking at Sister Chu.
She worked at Blue Rose and knew that someone of Sister Chu's status rarely involved herself in employees' personal affairs.
Sister Chu raised a hand to stop her. "Ah, don't misunderstand. I didn't come for you—I came for your friend."
"To be frank, I'm interested in the medicine your friend sells."
She looked at Lu Hao with genuine appreciation. "This product is indeed worth the price you quoted."
"I believe there's great potential for long-term cooperation between us."
Lu Hao smiled confidently at her words.
Of course—anything passed down from Azure Dragon couldn't be fake.
"How much can you buy?" Lu Hao asked Sister Chu seriously.
