This story is purely fictional.

Whenever Xiao Yi leaves home, she never goes anywhere else; she always lingers at the entrance of the Supreme Bar, anxiously awaiting the appearance of the man she admires. For nearly two hours, the man in her heart still had not shown up.

The last time at the bar, the boss of Douhao Company, Lu Jiahui, who had tried to chat Xiao Yi up, arrived at the Supreme Bar’s entrance and spotted the girl he fancied. From the moment Lu Jiahui met Xiao Yi, he had been utterly bewitched by her beauty. In his eyes, this girl, who looked like a high school student, was his goddess. He was determined to win her over by any means necessary, seemingly relentless in his pursuit.

Approaching her, he showered her with compliments and concern, but Xiao Yi responded with nothing but indifference. Lu Jiahui, standing before her, spoke seductive words of affection, saying, “Let’s be friends. I have money, a car, and a house—a grand villa. If you marry me, I’ll make sure you enjoy endless wealth and prosperity.” His shamelessness had reached new heights.

While Lu Jiahui was pestering Xiao Yi, Gao Yating, sitting in a nearby car, saw everything. She told Dai Yunjie to stop the car. Dai Yunjie, surprised by her sudden request, asked, “Is something wrong?”

“Didn’t you see Jiahui harassing Officer Xiao’s daughter again? That guy seems completely bewitched—apparently, last time’s lesson wasn’t enough for him. If we don’t teach him a lesson, he’ll never learn. I’ll go have a look.”

The car stopped in an open spot on the Supreme Plaza, and Gao Yating got out, walking toward the two entwined figures. She was dressed in a black lace dress, its hem fluttering, and her red high heels clicked crisply against the stone pavement.

Jiahui recognized the familiar sound, knowing Gao Yating was approaching. His soul seemed startled by the sight of this woman, and unease was etched on his slick face.

“Do you really not know who this girl is? Her father is Officer Xiao Jin of the Dahe Police Bureau. If you want to woo a woman, you’d better be more careful. Don’t do foolish things in such a foolish way. And there’s something else you need to know: I heard your older brother wants to take this girl as his goddaughter. If that’s the case, she’ll be your niece. Would you still pursue her so stubbornly then? I doubt your brother would let you carry on with such nonsense.” Gao Yating reprimanded Jiahui sternly.

Her words came like a barrage, making Jiahui’s face turn pale with embarrassment. Though deeply uncomfortable, he dared not utter a word in the presence of such a distinguished woman. He stood there, trembling, speechless and stupefied.

Xiao Yi watched this woman before her. Though she disliked Jiahui for his persistence, she equally disliked Gao Yating’s arrogance and pride. Because of her, she had lost the chance to meet her beloved uncle. How could this woman know so much about her and her father? Xiao Yi glared sideways at Gao Yating and shouted angrily, “Mind your own business!”

Gao Yating, hearing the girl’s ignorance, replied dismissively, “It’s not meddling—I’m being responsible for Officer Xiao.”

Xiao Yi looked back and saw her uncle sitting in the driver’s seat of the nearby car. Dai Yunjie looked at Xiao Yi, unsure what to do. Seeing Gao Yating glance toward him as well, he pressed the car horn. Gao Yating understood Dai Yunjie was signaling her to leave, and she nodded in acknowledgment.

“Go tell Director Ma that you want to date Officer Xiao’s daughter. Let’s see what Director Ma says, shall we?” Gao Yating said, then prepared to leave.

Xiao Yi had been so absorbed in watching Gao Yating scold Jiahui that she hadn’t known what to say in front of this beautiful woman. Her usual pride vanished, leaving her standing there, helpless and motionless.

After Gao Yating finished speaking and left, Jiahui shouted loudly, “I’ll go to my brother right now and tell him what I think! My brother will definitely support me. Just wait and see!”

Dai Yunjie waited for Gao Yating to get in the car, then immediately started the engine, accelerating as they drove away. The car roared, trailing blue smoke behind it, and parked in a corner of the plaza.

Jiahui, full of indignation, got into his Range Rover and drove out of the plaza, vanishing into the endless stream of traffic.

At that moment, Xiao Yi watched as her beloved uncle and that older woman went inside together, and jealousy flared within her. She muttered, “Why does this old woman get to claim my uncle? My uncle is the kind of handsome young man everyone loves—such a man should belong to someone young. Just wait and see.” Watching Gao Yating and her uncle enter the Supreme Bar’s lobby, she quickly followed them inside, ordered a drink at the bar, and sat alone, brooding.

Dai Yunjie saw all of this. He really didn’t want to see more of this woman, especially since last time’s misunderstanding was something he hoped wouldn’t happen again. Fortunately, Gao Yating knew Xiao Yi was Officer Xiao Jin’s child and didn’t believe the previous farce was evidence of Dai Yunjie’s ulterior motives. In her mind, she had brought him from MC to HZ, letting him enjoy a life reserved for the wealthy. She was confident that Dai Yunjie wouldn’t betray her for someone so inexperienced. She believed firmly in her judgment: this man she loved deeply would not be taken from her by anyone.

Lu Jiahui, furious, stormed into his brother’s office, shouting nonstop as soon as he entered. “Brother, I can’t stand it anymore! That Supreme Bar boss Gao Yating is so arrogant—she doesn’t even respect you!”

Ma Shengwei was absorbed in his work, not even lifting his head as he asked, “What’s got my little brother so upset? You said it’s Gao Yating, the gambling director in HZ?”

“Yes, brother,” Jiahui replied, panting.

“How did you get into conflict with her? She’s a big deal, you know?” Ma Shengwei glanced at his brother on the sofa.

“Big deal or not, in my eyes, you’re the real big deal. There’s nothing in Dahe you can’t handle. You’re the person I admire most. As for the others—hell with them. The top leaders of Dahe all respect you. Even that top official was nothing in front of you last time; you could deal with him in seconds if you wanted!”

“Enough—do you not know there’s always someone better out there? I’ve told you, brother, you need to keep a low profile. Can’t you do that?”

“Brother, what are you saying? I couldn’t be more low-key. That woman just gave me a real dressing-down, and I’m really upset. It’s like a fly stuck in my throat. You’ve got to stand up for me and teach her a lesson.”

“Why? After all this, I still don’t know why you want to teach anyone a lesson. Tell me, will you?” Ma Shengwei said with little interest.

“I’ve fallen in love with a stunning woman—your subordinate Xiao Jin’s daughter. She’s got me completely bewitched. I can’t eat, can’t sleep—it’s like I’m lovesick. I have to marry her, or I won’t survive. You have to help me, brother.” Jiahui pleaded, nearly in tears.

When Ma Shengwei heard it was Xiao Jin’s daughter, a cold sweat broke out on his forehead. He grabbed a tissue, wiped his brow, and looked at his brother, unsure what to say.

Ma Shengwei rose from his desk and walked over to his brother, patting Jiahui’s shoulder. “My dear brother, why are you so hopelessly romantic? I’ll help you win the heart of any woman—but not this girl.”

“Why not? You owe me an explanation,” Jiahui demanded.

“No means no. I don’t need to give you a reason. Just do as you’re told and don’t cause me any trouble,” Ma Shengwei snapped.

“Brother, I’m begging you. She’s really my type. Without her, I can’t go on. Please help me. I know you and her father are close. With your status, as his superior, if you speak up, there’ll be no problem.”

Ma Shengwei sat back at his desk, not lifting his head. No matter how Jiahui pleaded, Ma Shengwei remained silent.

“Brother, say something. Please help me, for my sake. I’ve never cared about any woman until now—only this time, I truly love Xiao Yi.”

“I think you’ve lost your mind. Of all the women…”

“Why not Xiao Yi? She’s so lovely, almost like she belongs in our family,” Jiahui kept pleading.

“I’ll help you with any other woman, but not Xiao Yi!” Ma Shengwei was growing impatient.

“Why, brother?” Jiahui was baffled.

“If you don’t give me an answer, I won’t leave today.” Jiahui tossed his bag onto the sofa and sat down firmly.
