Chapter Sixty-One: How Many Am I Facing?
“Six-Barrel, how did you spot him?” Heart Follows My Will was a little puzzled. None of the others had noticed the Little Bunny from Heaven and Earth, so how had Zhang Shan managed to see him? Recalling how Zhang Shan had quietly edged to the left just now, it was clear he had tracked the rogue’s movements—not just stumbled upon him by luck.
“Hunter skill, Eagle Eye. Enhances perception by twenty percent. It’s also because the Little Bunny was so close to us. If he’d been farther away, I wouldn’t have noticed him either.”
“That Eagle Eye skill’s impressive—able to see through a rogue’s stealth in advance.”
“The skill’s good, sure, but it still depends on who’s using it, right? Hunters don’t have any crowd-control skills. If you can’t kill the rogue in one hit, he can just sprint away,” Wind and Fire Cannon complained. He’d learned Eagle Eye too, but hadn’t leveled it up much, so the effect wasn’t great.
It only really helped him survive in a tight spot.
“Yeah, Six-Barrel’s attack power is just too high. That hit just now on Little Bunny must’ve done over three thousand damage, right?”
“About that. With the Priest’s attack blessing, my attack power is close to four thousand.”
Attack power was the attribute where Zhang Shan outstripped other players by the widest margin. After equipping level-twenty gear, most players had just over a thousand attack. Unless they were fully decked out in red gear, reaching two thousand was impossible—not even half of his. The difference a divine weapon made was most obvious here, creating a huge gap in attack power.
“Divine weapons are amazing. I wonder when we’ll get our hands on one.”
Every time they saw Zhang Shan’s damage output, they were filled with endless longing for a divine weapon of their own.
The group arrived at the entrance to the Mass Grave map, but didn’t rush in.
“So, what’s the plan?” Secretary asked.
He was just a tank. Though his gear was decent and his attack wasn’t bad, he lacked any crowd-control skills, making it hard for him to score kills. His only role was to soak up damage. Killing would be left to the others. So long as he could hold out a bit longer, it didn’t matter if he fell—if the team won, Wind Chime could just revive him.
“Wind Chime, put Attack Blessing on everyone. The rest of you, use any self-buff skills you have.”
The Priest’s Attack Blessing, once leveled to ten, increased attack power by twenty percent for three minutes. It was a crucial buff skill. Frankly, even a Priest with terrible gear would never worry about finding a party for leveling if they maxed out this starter skill.
“I wonder how many people the Heaven and Earth Guild has stationed at the entrance?” Heart Follows My Will said, a bit worried.
“No need to worry. Even if all two hundred of them are blocking the way, we can take them,” Zhang Shan said confidently. With his superior gear and skills, several levels ahead of the rest, and with his teammates’ support, he saw no reason to fear. If he couldn’t win with all these advantages, there was no justice.
“If everyone’s ready, I’ll go in first,” Secretary said, looking ready to sacrifice himself at any moment.
“Heh, don’t be afraid, Secretary. We brothers won’t forget you. Go in peace.”
“Go ahead. Share your point of view with us, and I’ll follow right after.”
“Alright.” Once Secretary shared his view, he entered the Mass Grave.
Through the shared perspective, they saw that as soon as Secretary entered the map, he was surrounded on all sides by members of the Heaven and Earth Guild. All two hundred of them were there, raining skills down on Secretary.
“Damn, how shameless! How are we supposed to get in? I’ve only got a little over three thousand health—there’s no room to move at all.”
“Yeah, there are just too many people. Plus, they’re crowding the entrance completely. We’d spawn right in their midst.”
“This isn’t going to work. Maybe we should just sacrifice Secretary?” The others were racking their brains, not knowing what to do, when Zhang Shan summoned his panda companion and, close behind Secretary, entered the Mass Grave.
The moment he landed, a barrage of skills came flying at him from all directions.
Secretary had tanked the first wave, and Zhang Shan had timed his entry for the brief interval between skill casts. But with so many people from Heaven and Earth, plenty hadn’t had a chance to attack Secretary in the first wave, so as soon as Zhang Shan appeared, a storm of skills targeted him.
“Six-Barrel Buddha, are you looking to die? You think you’re invincible? Today, you’re going to crawl back to Dangyang City,” Heaven-Slaying Blade from Heaven and Earth shouted arrogantly.
Zhang Shan didn’t have time for banter. He’d prove himself with action—words were for fools.
The instant he landed, before the attacks reached him, Zhang Shan transformed into a killing machine. Wielding the Six-Barrel Blue Flame, he unleashed terrifying damage on the squishy classes of Heaven and Earth.
He didn’t need a second shot. Apart from strength-based classes, most others had less than four thousand health at this stage. Even without a critical hit, Zhang Shan could kill them instantly.
Though his hand cannon had only one barrel, with Midas Touch’s increased attack speed, it was as if he had six barrels—bullets flying out nonstop, nothing like a normal hunter.
He was simply overpowering.
“All those with stun skills, use them now! Rogues and archers, don’t hold back—stun him to death! Focus on killing Six-Barrel Buddha first, ignore everyone else!”
Zhang Shan quickly dropped several ranged classes nearby, ignoring the melee for now. His own health had dropped by more than half—he’d just taken hits from dozens of people. Thankfully, his panda companion had absorbed a lot of the damage. Without it, he might have gone down in the first volley.
Some skills dealt two or three hundred damage, others over a thousand. Not just the squishy classes—even weak tanks couldn’t withstand that kind of onslaught. Yet Zhang Shan was still standing. His health was far higher than the average tank—up to eighteen thousand now.
Without support from his teammates, he’d still go down quickly. No matter how much health he had, without heals, he could only survive a wave or two. Even activating Berserk wouldn’t help—if anything, he’d die faster, since it doubled the damage taken.
Outside the map, the others were stunned as they watched Zhang Shan mowing down the crowd.
“Divine Weapon Bro is insane. Is he soloing a hundred people?”
“Enough talk—get in, or those two will die!”
That’s right—somehow, Secretary, who’d gone in first, was still alive. Mainly because Zhang Shan had come in quickly and drawn much of the fire.
When Wind Chime entered the map, she immediately cast Rejuvenation on Zhang Shan, rapidly restoring his health. A rogue stunned Zhang Shan, and from a distance, seven or eight Meteor Arrows flew his way. If he couldn’t break free, even his massive health pool wouldn’t save him—if he stayed stunned, he’d drop in an instant.
He activated Berserk. Berserk not only removes stuns, but also grants immunity to all control effects during its duration. At the same time, it increases attack power and speed. Zhang Shan had already leveled Berserk to nine—nine seconds of immunity.
For those nine seconds, with Wind Chime healing him, he was an unstoppable turret.
“Protect Wind Chime. As long as she stands, victory is ours.”
