Chapter 142: One Man Holds the Pass
Facing the enemy’s incoming meteor arrows, Zhang Shan was unharmed, but the baby panda was continuously stunned, unable to move at all. However, this wasn’t a problem—during battles, Zhang Shan rarely relied on the baby panda for damage output; its attack speed was simply too slow. It served perfectly as a tank, absorbing some skills.
After activating the Frenzy and Zeal skills, Zhang Shan swiftly took down the frontline guardian warriors of the West Mountain Guild. Yet, as the duration of these two skills ended, over a dozen meteor arrows rained down once more.
The West Mountain Guild had at least thirty to forty archers, capable of launching three volleys of meteor arrows. This time, without the immunity granted by the Frenzy skill, Zhang Shan dared not stand exposed to the meteor arrows. Getting hit meant being stunned for five seconds—a serious matter. Five seconds was more than enough for the enemy to chop him to pieces.
Zhang Shan prepared to hide behind the baby panda again. The three of them lined up, bracing to endure the enemy’s meteor arrows first.
At that moment, Feng Yun Yidao stepped forward.
“Brother Sixguns, keep holding them back. I’ll take the arrows. With Big Brother Blade here, even if I fall, I’ll be revived quickly.”
Feng Yun Yidao charged ahead, only to be struck by two meteor arrows, stunned for five seconds.
Except for dodging behind Feng Yun Yidao the moment the meteor arrows flew in, Zhang Shan never ceased firing his musket. Bullets flew relentlessly, sweeping away any enemy foolish enough to come within range, regardless of their class.
Seeing two consecutive volleys of meteor arrows fail to control Zhang Shan, the West Mountain Guild grew anxious. An uncontrollable Zhang Shan was a terrifying source of damage. In this confined space, they simply could not close in on him.
“Prepare the third volley of meteor arrows! Everyone charge together! Warriors, once you’re in range, use your charge skill and cut down Sixguns Buddha! Don’t worry about the other two!”
West Mountain Guild’s leader was gambling everything on sheer numbers. Although the terrain limited their advantage, their strength in numbers still gave warriors a chance to close in under cover and unleash their charge skills.
Seeing the enemy swarm forward, Zhang Shan responded without mercy, continuously firing. All he had to watch out for was the meteor arrows; other stuns required proximity, which he would never allow.
Only the meteor arrows posed a serious threat. Dodge those, and no matter how many enemies came, in such terrain they were merely fodder.
The third volley of meteor arrows came again. Zhang Shan dodged behind Feng Yun Yidao.
Although Feng Yun Yidao had been hit by two meteor arrows, he wasn’t down. Meteor arrows dealt damage, but two alone wouldn’t kill a warrior without follow-up attacks.
The West Mountain Guild had no chance to close in and add damage, so Feng Yun Yidao stood firm.
Seizing the moment Zhang Shan dodged the arrows, several berserkers of the West Mountain Guild rapidly charged within skill range. The frontline berserkers launched their charges, damage indicators flashing on Zhang Shan.
He ignored these few attackers, focusing on taking down the enemies behind them. These few berserkers charging alone couldn’t kill him. But if the entire pack charged, he would be overwhelmed—there were at least forty or fifty berserkers on the field from the West Mountain Guild.
Amid the chaotic slashes, Zhang Shan relentlessly fired at the enemies in the rear.
Before the berserkers behind could close in for their charges, Zhang Shan’s volleys felled them in waves. No one advanced an inch.
As for the few who had charged, they hacked at Zhang Shan relentlessly, disregarding Feng Yun Yidao and Boss Wu.
Ignoring Feng Yun Yidao didn’t mean he wouldn’t fight back.
Boss Wu kept healing Zhang Shan, while Feng Yun Yidao furiously hacked at the attackers, even unleashing sweeping area attacks.
Surrounded, Zhang Shan focused on distant enemies, leaving the close combat to Feng Yun Yidao. With Boss Wu’s healing, those few attackers couldn’t kill him.
Still, Feng Yun Yidao struggled to finish any off. The berserkers’ gear was decent; each had roughly twenty thousand health.
Feng Yun Yidao’s normal attacks only dealt a bit over two thousand damage. Though skills added extra damage, they had cooldowns, and the berserkers could drink potions to recover. Without landing seven or eight hits, Feng Yun Yidao couldn’t fell anyone alone.
“Take down that Taoist first! Don’t let him keep healing!” the West Mountain Guild leader suddenly realized, having previously focused solely on Zhang Shan.
That was because Zhang Shan’s damage output was terrifying. Now, seeing that Zhang Shan was hard to kill with healing support, they aimed to take out Boss Wu first.
However, this realization came too late. Under Feng Yun Yidao’s furious assault, two enemies had already fallen.
As the remaining three turned to attack Boss Wu, Feng Yun Yidao’s charge skill pinned one down, leaving only two to face Boss Wu.
Zhang Shan didn’t even glance at Boss Wu’s direction. These two had no hope of taking Boss Wu down quickly.
Though Boss Wu’s gear was inferior, he could heal himself, and the baby panda was nearby.
Dare they rush Boss Wu?
When the two reached Boss Wu, Zhang Shan commanded the baby panda to use combo skills, instantly eliminating one.
The last attacker was stunned, forced to recklessly hack at Boss Wu.
Zhang Shan had the baby panda guard Boss Wu, slowly whittling down the final berserker charging at them.
Simultaneously, Zhang Shan’s musket never ceased firing, suppressing the enemy’s momentum.
Though enemies fell constantly to Zhang Shan’s gunfire, the West Mountain Guild had no intention of giving up.
After all, they were a veteran guild. With two or three hundred members, they could easily crush even powerful bosses.
There was no reason they should lose to just three opponents.
“Keep pushing! I refuse to believe they can hold forever. Archers, fall back and wait out the meteor arrow cooldown.”
The meteor arrow skill had a five-minute cooldown, just like Zhang Shan’s Frenzy skill.
Once their skills were ready again, Zhang Shan’s Frenzy would be available, too.
He didn’t pursue but maintained his chokehold on this narrow entrance, felling each enemy as they charged—one after another, relentlessly.
