Chapter 141: West Mountain Guild
After another two or three minutes, Zhang Shan noticed that the Qi Kingdom player still had no intention of leaving. He remained standing in the distance, staring at them.
"He's likely a scout. I’ll go over and take him out. Get ready; it looks like trouble is coming," Zhang Shan said. He summoned his Red Hare horse, mounted it, and charged toward the Qi Kingdom player.
Seeing Zhang Shan pursuing him, the player turned and ran, but his short legs were no match for the speed of the Red Hare. Zhang Shan caught up in moments, dismounted, and finished him off with two shots.
"Six-Pipe Bodhisattva, don't get too arrogant! You’ve killed so many of our Qi Kingdom players—do you really think you can just hide here and farm mobs without consequences? Just you wait, if you’ve got guts, don't run."
"Sure, I’ll be right here waiting," Zhang Shan replied. He remounted his horse and returned to his farming spot. He didn't even bother to remember the player's name; such a minor character wasn't worth his attention.
"Who was that? Are you sure you didn't kill the wrong person?" Fengyun Yidao asked with a laugh.
"It was the right person. He was here to stir up trouble. Their main force should be arriving soon. Since he was left lying on the ground, someone will probably come to revive him."
"So, what’s the plan? Should we channel back to Tianmen Pass, or are we going to stand our ground and fight?"
"Why retreat? If we have to run away every time some random nobody shows up, how are we supposed to make a name for ourselves in the Tianmen Pass map?"
"Six-Pipe, you’ve got guts. Still, we should prepare. If hundreds or thousands of them show up, we’ll be in trouble. Dying costs us levels, and there’s no guarantee anyone will come to save us."
"Don't worry. The terrain here is perfect. As long as we hold this entrance, they can't flood in all at once."
"Alright. We’ll keep an eye on the situation outside. The moment we see a large number of Qi Kingdom players approaching, we’ll stop farming."
"Agreed."
"By the way, did that guy have a guild tag? If he’s from a major guild, we need to be careful; they’ll definitely send a lot of people."
"Hold on, let me check." Zhang Shan hadn't actually paid attention to that. Ever since the Fengyun Guild was established over half a month ago, other guilds had gradually begun to appear.
Currently, there were at least thirty or forty player-run guilds in the game, with one or two in every city. Even in their home city, Dangyang, other players had established guilds, though they were small and had never clashed with them. It was just a game, after all; everyone was doing their own thing, and conflicts rarely broke out for no reason.
Zhang Shan checked his combat logs to identify the player he had just killed: Xishan Piaoxue from the Qi Kingdom's Xishan Guild.
"He was in a guild—the Xishan Guild of the Qi Kingdom. Never heard of them; they shouldn't be too strong." Zhang Shan didn't pay much attention to these things; aside from the top ten guilds in the game, he hadn't made an effort to learn about the others.
"They're alright. The Xishan Guild is considered an old-school guild, but they’ve been developing slowly in the New World. Since they were just established, they should still be a Level 1 guild. Not too much to worry about."
"If they're only Level 1, we have nothing to fear. They have at most a thousand members, and it’s impossible for them all to come to Tianmen Pass. A few hundred at most."
Their Fengyun Guild was already a Level 2 guild, and they had already accumulated enough contribution points for Level 3. They were just waiting for a guild building to be completed, which would happen in a few days, to officially upgrade. Aside from them, about a dozen other guilds had reached Level 2; the newer ones were still lagging behind.
Before long, Zhang Shan noticed a large group of people appearing in the distance. They were all Qi Kingdom players, though they didn't charge immediately. Xishan Piaoxue, who had been lying on the ground, had already been revived.
"Stop farming. Let’s deal with them first," Fengyun Yidao said to Zhang Shan.
"Let’s go. We’ll block the entrance and see if they dare to rush in."
The three of them stopped farming and moved to the narrow entrance.
"Hey, Xishan Yitiao Long, what’s the matter? Looking for a fight?" Fengyun Yidao called out to the leader of the Xishan Guild.
"Fengyun Yidao, we’re on opposing factions, so a fight is inevitable. But are you really this confident? You’re only three people, and you’re actually waiting here for us?"
"Not bad, I suppose. You guys don't have that many people either—just two or three hundred. Don't you know my brother here slaughtered three or five hundred people at the city gate earlier?"
"Hmph, do you think we're just a bunch of rabble?"
"In my eyes, you're about the same," Fengyun Yidao retorted, showing no respect at all.
Despite the mockery, Xishan Yitiao Long didn't seem angry. Once their forces were assembled, he began ordering them to slowly advance toward Zhang Shan’s position. Everyone now knew that Zhang Shan’s attack power was terrifying; the only chance to take him down was to surround him with numbers.
Ten or so guardian warriors from the Xishan Guild stood in the front row, but surprisingly, they weren't followed by berserkers with charge skills. Instead, there were thirty or forty archers, followed by a large crowd of other classes.
"Watch out for their archers using Meteor Arrow," Fengyun Yidao warned Zhang Shan and Boss Wu as they saw the enemy closing in.
"Stand behind the Panda Baby. Meteor Arrow can't pierce through players or pets; it will only hit the target in front."
Zhang Shan was enough to handle the combat; Fengyun Yidao and Boss Wu just needed to ensure their own survival, especially Boss Wu. Once the fighting started, they would need his healing, and if Fengyun Yidao fell, they would need Boss Wu to revive him.
As soon as the Xishan Guild members entered his range, Zhang Shan’s musket erupted, bullets flying incessantly. The guardian warriors of the Xishan Guild had high health, but they could withstand at most three or four of his shots.
As Zhang Shan fired, the enemy accelerated, pushing through the hail of bullets. The archers in the back took turns firing Meteor Arrows. The first volley of over a dozen arrows flew toward them in a line, leaving no room to dodge.
Fengyun Yidao and Boss Wu hid behind the Panda Baby, which took several hits. Zhang Shan didn't dodge; he activated his "Berserk" and "Fanaticism" skills, significantly boosting his attack power and speed. The Berserk skill granted immunity to control effects, so the Meteor Arrows hitting him simply resulted in "MISS" indicators—they couldn't stun him.
He focused on clearing the guardian warriors in the front row first. Without them, no one else on the opposing side could survive even two of his shots.
