Chapter 110: The Sorcerer of the Demon Clan
Zhang Shan, accompanied by the panda cub, relentlessly attacked the demon clan warriors, while Boss Wu stood nearby, continuously healing the panda cub. It was as simple as fighting low-level monsters.
Of course, this was largely due to the panda cub’s exceptional stats, especially after being enhanced by the Heart of Nature. Its health had reached an absurd level. Had it been a weaker tank, things might have turned sour—there was even a chance of failure.
From time to time, the demon clan warrior would unleash its Storm Hammer skill, stunning the panda cub. Each hit dealt over three thousand damage, and that was despite the cub’s passive damage reduction due to its thick hide. Without that, the damage would have been even higher.
Still, such damage was negligible against the panda cub’s hundred-thousand-plus health; it was no real threat. With Boss Wu’s constant healing, the cub’s health remained nearly full at all times.
A pet with over a hundred thousand health was undeniably overpowering at this stage.
In less than four minutes, the demon clan warrior fell, granting Zhang Shan over a million experience points, while Boss Wu leveled up immediately.
“Haha, boss-level experience is really satisfying. Just like that, we’ve leveled up. Let’s see what loot dropped,” Zhang Shan said as he checked his inventory.
There were two purple-quality junk items, one orange material, and nothing else.
“What rubbish! Only these drops? That’s a disgrace for an orange-tier boss,” Zhang Shan grumbled.
“No matter, let’s just treat it as experience farming. Besides, excluding the material, those two purple items can at least fetch a few hundred gold coins,” Boss Wu replied.
“True, it’s too easy to ask for more. Let’s keep farming. Didn’t you say there are three orange-tier bosses? If we take them all down—even if they only drop purple gear—we could still make one or two thousand gold coins.”
“Yeah, two thousand gold coins is nearly half a month’s salary for me. Thinking like that, this haul isn’t too bad.”
“An optimistic spirit,” Zhang Shan laughed.
“You’ve got to be content with what you have. Contentment brings happiness. Let’s farm quickly; if we stay up too late, your wife will be nagging you again.”
Taking down one orange-tier boss didn’t slow their monster clearing much—only a handful of elite monsters were skipped.
“With just the two of us, the run is a bit slow. I should’ve recruited another fighter,” Zhang Shan said.
“Good fighters aren’t easy to find. Besides, we’re not in a hurry. As long as we finish before you log off, it’s fine.”
“Alright, looks like I’ll be sleeping late tonight.”
One by one, Zhang Shan defeated the demon clan elite warriors, gradually clearing more than half the dungeon’s monsters. Along the way, they encountered another orange-tier boss—also a demon clan warrior—and took it down effortlessly.
As for the loot, it was the same as before: two purple items barely worth mentioning.
Unless the gear was red-tier or higher, or skill books, Zhang Shan wasn’t interested. The small amounts of gold from selling purple gear weren’t worth the hassle.
Huh? What’s that monster over there? It’s a bit far, so it’s hard to see clearly, but it definitely looks different from the demon clan elites.
“Is that a boss?” Zhang Shan asked Boss Wu, pointing into the distance.
“Can’t tell clearly. Let’s rush over and take a look,” Boss Wu suggested.
“Forget it, no rush. We’re going to clear everything anyway.”
“Why do we have to clear everything? Are you planning to take down the main guarding boss?”
“Whether we can beat it or not, we have to try. At least we’ll know its attributes and skills, so next time we come prepared.”
Another goal for Zhang Shan’s dungeon run was to scout ahead. There was no information on the second-floor dungeon’s guarding boss on the forums yet. He had to find out for himself.
Otherwise, when he teamed up with Fengyun World or others in a few days, they’d be completely in the dark, unable to choose the difficulty properly.
Once they confirmed the guarding boss’s skills and stats, they’d know what to expect next time.
As they neared the boss, Zhang Shan glanced at its name: Demon Clan Sorcerer.
“This boss looks tough. Let’s save it for last and clear all the small fry first,” he decided.
Based on their experience with bosses so far, Zhang Shan knew every magic-type boss was troublesome. Even if just orange-tier, they shouldn’t be underestimated. Who knew what nasty skills it might have?
They would clear all the monsters, gain experience, then deal with the Demon Clan Sorcerer.
“Is this sorcerer hard to fight? Same level and also orange-tier, so would it be much different?”
“Magic bosses are hard to judge without seeing their skills. Let’s clear the monsters first. Once done, you might level up again, and your healing will improve.”
They had already taken down two orange bosses, sharing the experience between just two people. The rewards were generous.
Boss Wu had leveled up inside the dungeon and was expected to reach level 23 by the time they finished.
Alright.
By around eleven at night, they had cleared every demon clan elite warrior. Only the Demon Clan Sorcerer remained, standing solitary on the dungeon map. Defeating it should trigger the final guarding boss.
“What now?” Boss Wu asked.
“Standard procedure. Let the panda cub test the boss’s attributes and skills first. We’ll keep our distance.”
As a hunter, Zhang Shan’s pet control range was much further than his attack range—basically anywhere within sight. He sent the panda cub forward to probe.
No matter how strong the Demon Clan Sorcerer was, it couldn’t instantly kill the cub—it was still only an orange-tier boss.
Zhang Shan commanded the pet to attack, while he and Boss Wu stood well back.
Soon, the boss’s stats and skills were revealed:
Demon Clan Sorcerer: 1.5 million health, 3000 attack.
Skill 1: Life Fire.
Skill 2: Immobilize.
Skill 3: Blazing Flame Formation.
Life Fire: The sorcerer attacks using the fire of life, increasing damage by 50%.
Immobilize: Randomly roots a target, preventing movement, attacks, and health or mana regeneration for three seconds.
Blazing Flame Formation: The sorcerer sets a powerful flame array in the target’s direction, dealing 5,000 damage per second for five seconds within a 20-yard radius.
Attributes were normal, but the skills were somewhat strong. With caution, it should be manageable.
“Let’s go. Time to fight.”
Zhang Shan charged forward and began attacking the boss; Boss Wu resumed healing the panda cub.
“Don’t stand together. You stay behind the boss and heal the cub.”
“Got it. That ultimate move can one-shot me—3,000 damage per second, I can’t survive three seconds.”
“It should be fine. The area of effect isn’t large. If it targets the panda cub, neither of us will be affected.”
“Just hope it doesn’t throw it at us. I can only take that hit once. I can’t run ten yards in one second.”
It was tricky. Even though Boss Wu had swapped to a blue cloak, he was still somewhat fragile and couldn’t withstand the boss’s ultimate skill.
