Chapter 135: Danger or Trap
Gu Ren shuddered all over. He hurriedly shoved Long Xue’er away, shot into the air, and flew toward the place where the sound had come from.
Long Xue’er stamped her foot furiously. She had been this close—just this close—to becoming Gu Feng’s woman. That damned Black Python Clan!
She immediately flew after him, but Long Wenba blocked her path.
With experts of this caliber fighting, wouldn’t following Gu Feng only cause him trouble?
Gu Feng had barely reached the scene and had not yet seen what was happening when a fierce gust struck him. Then an arm clamped around him, crushing him so tightly that he lost all ability to resist. He was carried away into the distance, with only the roaring wind filling his ears.
“Ding! You have been captured by Aili of the Great Black Python Clan and made a prisoner.”
Gu Feng was utterly shocked. Aili’s strength had far exceeded his expectations. He hurriedly checked her status.
“Aili, Great Elder of the Great Black Python Clan. Spirit Venerable, tenth level. Combat strength: capable of fighting across one major realm against a first-level Spirit King. Heavenly-grade talent.”
“Damn! Does she really have to be that powerful? A tenth-level Spirit Venerable can actually fight a Spirit King across a realm? She’s even more ferocious than I am!”
More importantly, Aili was beyond the range of the Death Contract. She was simply too powerful. Even if he self-destructed, it would be completely useless.
Gu Feng was in an extremely miserable predicament. He could kill himself to escape, but what good would that do? Setting aside the loss of three major levels, as long as he remained in the Great Wilderness, it would be incredibly easy for them to capture him again.
For the first time, Gu Feng felt that he had encountered his natural nemesis.
Aili was unbelievably fast. Before long, she had carried Gu Feng into the serpent cavern.
Once inside, Aili landed and released him. Gu Feng looked around and nearly cried out in alarm. As expected of a serpent cavern—the entire cave was filled with snakes. If they had not opened a path for Aili, there would not even have been room to place his feet.
Gu Feng stared at Aili.
She was breathtakingly beautiful, even more so than Gu Yan.
“Have you looked enough?” she asked in Serpent Tongue.
Gu Feng gave an awkward smile. “How could I possibly have looked enough when you’re this beautiful?” he replied in Serpent Tongue.
Aili’s eyes filled with astonishment. She had already examined Gu Feng and confirmed that he was human, yet he could actually speak Serpent Tongue.
According to the ancestral teachings of the Great Black Python Clan, there was a legend: if a Great Black Python ever encountered a human who was born able to speak Serpent Tongue, that human would be the Holy Sovereign of the serpent race and would lead the Great Black Python Clan to glory.
“How do you know Serpent Tongue?”
Gu Feng knew nothing of the Great Black Python Clan’s traditions, and naturally could not say that it was the system translating for him. He shamelessly replied, “I was born knowing it.”
“You truly knew it from birth? Aili, Great Elder of the serpent race, pays her respects to the Holy Sovereign.”
“Ding! Aili of the Great Black Python Clan is leading her people in swearing allegiance to you. Will you accept?”
“What? Accept, accept!”
After his initial shock, Gu Feng was wildly excited. The Great Black Pythons were equivalent to Spirit Kings, and now their entire clan was pledging allegiance to him. How could he possibly refuse? More importantly, Aili was an exotic beauty.
He hurried over to help Aili up, taking the opportunity to feel her body as well. The sensation was indescribably wonderful.
How could Aili fail to understand Gu Feng’s thoughts? The Great Black Python Clan was straightforward with its own people, so she spoke bluntly.
“If the Holy Sovereign requires it, Aili can attend your bed.”
“Ah!”
Gu Feng was stunned, then became extremely excited. If she could attend his bed, and there were so many beautiful women in the Great Black Python Clan, then wouldn’t that mean…
“Ahem! Aili, right? There’s no need for that. I should go and see your people first. By the way, I killed someone called Elder Bai yesterday. There won’t be any trouble, will there?”
“Not at all, Holy Sovereign. With a single word from you, the entire Great Black Python Clan would gladly sacrifice itself for you.”
“In that case, that’s wonderful. But don’t worry—I would never recklessly sacrifice your people.”
After several twists and turns, they soon arrived at the territory of the Great Black Python Clan. It was practically an underground palace.
At that moment, three thousand members of the Great Black Python Clan had gathered in the square outside the palace. Those who had not yet reached the Spirit Venerable realm were all in their true forms. Their enormous bodies covered the area in a vast, dark mass.
Above the square stood a statue—a statue of a human. He looked kind and benevolent, but when Gu Feng tried to make out his features, he found that his face was blurred and indistinct.
“Ding! Divine statue. Your level is too low to see the true appearance of its owner.”
Gu Feng was astonished. A divine statue—did that mean its owner had reached the divine realm?
Seeing Gu Feng staring at the statue, Aili explained, “He was the first Holy Sovereign of our Great Black Python Clan. Without him, our clan would have been annihilated.”
“The first Holy Sovereign? Then which number am I?”
Aili smiled. “You are the second. I never imagined that I would meet the second Holy Sovereign in my lifetime.”
Gu Feng looked at Aili, whose beauty was as youthful as a girl’s, and asked in confusion, “How old are you?”
Aili proudly replied, “I have lived for a thousand years.”
“What?”
Gu Feng was utterly shocked. A thousand years? Wouldn’t that make her an ancient crone? And he had actually been thinking about…
Seeing his expression, Aili laughed.
“Our Great Black Python Clan is different from humanity. Under normal circumstances, even an ordinary member of our clan can live for more than three hundred years. For someone as powerful as me, living for a thousand years is perfectly normal. Once I break through to the Spirit King realm, I will be able to live another five hundred years.”
Looking at Gu Feng’s astonished face, Aili once again saw through his thoughts.
“For a member of our clan to transform into human form normally requires at least five hundred years. After assuming human form, we are equivalent to a human child of about five years old, and we grow one year older every fifty years. So even though I have lived for a thousand years, I am only equivalent to a thirty-year-old human woman.”
Gu Feng stared at Aili.
Why was she explaining all this to him? Could it be that…
He gazed at her with undisguised lust.
Aili walked toward him, deliberately revealing her thigh as she tempted him.
“I told you. Whenever you need me, I can attend your bed.”
Gulp!
Gu Feng swallowed hard, finding it unbearable.
Bai Fan had long harbored feelings for Aili. Seeing how close she had become to Gu Feng, he stepped forward and said, “Great Elder, this human killed the fifth elder of our clan. He should be punished according to our laws.”
Aili immediately flew into a rage.
“Silence! Let every member of the Great Black Python Clan listen carefully. This young man is the Holy Sovereign our clan has encountered only once in a thousand years. He will lead our clan to glory!”
All the clan members were bewildered.
“The Holy Sovereign?”
Aili turned to Gu Feng. “Holy Sovereign, please address everyone in the language of our clan.”
Putting on an impressive display was Gu Feng’s specialty. He immediately stepped forward twice and exchanged for an Aura of Dignity through the system. Before he could even speak, his bearing changed dramatically. He seemed to become a dragon among serpents, leaving thousands of Great Black Pythons stunned—including Aili.
The entire clan instantly believed that Gu Feng was their Holy Sovereign, because only the Holy Sovereign could possess such an imposing presence.
Thousands of Great Black Pythons fell to their knees.
“Greetings, Holy Sovereign!”
Even Bai Fan, no matter how unwilling he was, had no choice but to kneel. The Holy Sovereign was ordained by their ancestral teachings, and no one could defy them.
Having succeeded in his grand display, Gu Feng spoke.
“When a serpent cultivates to the pinnacle, it becomes a dragon. My demand is not excessive: within a hundred years, the Great Black Python Clan must produce a dragon.”
As he said this, Gu Feng looked toward Aili.
Aili was overwhelmed with excitement. Wasn’t he obviously speaking of her?
At that moment, terrified cries rang out from outside.
“Disaster, Great Elder! The Black Eagle Clan has attacked us again! Many of our people have already become food in their bellies!”
