Chapter 118: Riding Alone to the Capital
Ancient Wind asked disdainfully, “Experts? How formidable are they?”
Wen Xingguo didn’t bother hiding the truth and replied, “One of the elders—I couldn’t discern his cultivation level.”
Amid the shock on everyone’s faces, Ancient Wind waved his hand casually. “Everything in the warehouse has vanished.”
Everyone was stunned. “How did you do that?”
Ancient Wind stepped toward the exit and said, “Go see for yourselves.”
At that moment, more than ten people entered.
Among them, one person, seeing the empty warehouse, was utterly shocked. “How did you manage this?” He was bewildered—these people had been tightly bound, yet they had completely looted the treasure trove. It was downright unbelievable.
One of the four men from the capital pointed at Ancient Wind and his group, sneering, “Is this what you call a clean sweep?”
It turned out that the black market and the assassins were connected, but they played an even bigger and more thrilling game: capturing targets alive, which was far more valuable.
Earlier that day, they had contacted the people from the capital at noon, promising to deliver by nightfall.
But they hadn’t expected such a blunder, and the entire warehouse had been ransacked.
Ancient Wind greeted the shop owner warmly, “Hello, boss, long time no see. Thank you for leading them here; our cooperation has been very pleasant. Your payment is in this spatial ring.”
He tossed the spatial ring over. The shop owner’s strength was no match for the empire’s experts. The ring was snatched away by one of the empire’s men, who eagerly opened it and cursed aloud, “Ten billion gold coins!”
Ten billion gold coins—a staggering sum.
He immediately believed Ancient Wind’s words.
Running a black market was all about making money unethically; as long as there was profit, it didn’t matter whose money it was.
Shaken, the shop owner trembled, pointing at Ancient Wind angrily. “You’re talking nonsense! My treasure trove has been looted by you. How could I possibly cooperate with you? Don’t believe a word he says.”
“Go to hell!”
One of the capital’s men launched an attack.
The shop owner was prepared. Suddenly, a trap on the ground activated, flinging the attacker away. He fled quickly, shouting loudly at the entrance, “Damn you all, go to hell!”
With a heavy thud, the underground entrance door slammed shut. The shop owner immediately ordered his men to seal all ventilation shafts and began releasing poison gas.
Both sides in the underground vault eyed each other warily. As the smoke billowed, everyone was shocked—it was poison gas.
Even the strongest among the capital’s men furrowed his brow tightly.
The only one unfazed was Ancient Wind.
Hanhan looked at Ancient Wind, who was calm and composed, and asked, “Master, aren’t you afraid?”
Ancient Wind smiled, “The master fears death least of all, so no.”
“Ah! Master, Hanhan is afraid of death, what should I do?”
Ancient Wind took out a poison antidote pill and handed it to Hanhan. “Take this. With it, you won’t fear the poison.”
“Thank you, Master. You’re so kind.”
“Big brother, what about ours?”
“If you don’t speak, I’ll think you’re not afraid of death either,” Ancient Wind said, popping a pill himself.
Then he handed out one to each of them.
One of the four from the capital shouted angrily, “Give us the antidote.”
Ancient Wind raised a finger, silent.
The man growled in anger, “What do you mean by that?”
Ancient Wind muttered, “So stupid, you don’t even understand.”
Just as the man was about to explode with rage, Ancient Wind said, “One million gold coins per pill.”
The man was furious. “Damn it! You’re kidding me. Kill you, and everything will be mine.”
“Then try me.”
Ancient Wind’s anger flared. He despised arrogance, especially when it was shown in front of him.
Their leader had not spoken yet, so the man dared only to threaten but not act. He looked to his leader, awaiting orders.
The leader fixed his gaze on Ancient Wind. “You’re the one who destroyed the Mu Prince’s mansion. Do you know there’s still an old ancestor there?”
“Oh, I’ve heard.”
“Do you know why no one dares to touch the Mu Prince’s mansion? Because their ancestor is a peak Grand Spirit Master.”
“And you’re telling me this for what?”
“Only by joining forces can we hope to kill him.”
“Haha! Join forces to kill him? Then what about the assassins and the black market targeting us on the way here?”
“That’s also a test for you. If you die on the way, it proves you lack strength and aren’t worthy of cooperating with the royal family.”
“If I have the strength, why should I cooperate with you? Now, you’ll die, but we won’t.”
The man was confident. “If we don’t cooperate, no one will leave alive.”
“You talk too much.”
“If you want me to take it myself, then I will.”
The man spoke cautiously, never overlooking any danger, because he feared death. Yet when necessary, he would risk it to eliminate threats.
“Kill!”
Just as Long Xue’er and Wen Xingguo prepared to strike, Ancient Wind shouted angrily, “A bunch of trash!”
A towering sword appeared, wrapped in azure light, dazzling the eyes. Ancient Wind soared into the air and roared as he swung down, “Flame Storm!”
Boom!
With an explosion, the fiery spirit energy from the giant sword surged wildly, transforming into a sea of flames that engulfed the enemy.
The overwhelming momentum was breathtaking.
The three from the capital attacking Ancient Wind had no choice but to retreat.
This move didn’t cut off the flow of spirit energy in Ancient Wind’s body; it continued until his internal energy was exhausted, at which point the Flame Storm’s power ceased to grow.
Everyone was seeing Ancient Wind’s true strength for the first time, astonished by such brutal force.
The capital’s leader said grimly, “Using all your spirit energy in one move—impressive. But you’re only a level four Grand Spirit Master. Now, go die!”
He blocked Ancient Wind’s Flame Storm to save his three subordinates. He had seen through Ancient Wind’s strength and thus struck.
“Fall back!”
Long Xue’er didn’t retreat but cried out urgently, “I’ll help you.”
Ancient Wind roared, “Protect Hanhan!”
Long Xue’er reluctantly withdrew.
Hanhan’s eyes sparkled. “Go, Master!” She was utterly unaware that Ancient Wind was no match for the enemy.
The man approached step by step, unhurried. His three companions stayed back, watching the spectacle.
Ancient Wind, wanting to provoke the man, cursed, “Last night, I slept with your mother.”
The man paused, frowning.
Ancient Wind continued, “The first time I slept with your mother, you were already inside her.”
Long Xue’er and the others looked at Ancient Wind as if he had transformed into a different person, wondering if he was possessed. Mocking him now would only make him kill faster.
Ancient Wind was anxious. This bastard wasn’t angry at all; his killing intent hadn’t risen.
Finally, the man smiled and said, “You insult me to anger me, but why should I waste my anger on someone already dead?”
Ancient Wind was frustrated and cursed, “Damn, you’re bold.”
There was no choice. The man had closed in, and Ancient Wind reluctantly wasted a contract of self-destruction.
Before self-destructing, Ancient Wind yelled, “Damn it, you’re going to die. I’m blowing myself up!”
