Chapter 107: Zhu Han Gains Fame
The Dungeon City, the pinnacle among first-tier cities, boasted overall strength not inferior to the Royal City.
At the southern gate of Dungeon City, along the official road, Gu Feng and five others finally caught sight of the city after eight days of arduous travel through mountains and rivers.
Miao Yun, having been away from home for eight years, gazed upon Dungeon City with a mix of familiarity and estrangement, her heart swelling with emotion.
Uncle Zhu and Zhu Han wore expressions of curiosity.
Wen Xingguo, having undergone a profound transformation from a once ruthless man to a simple, honest soul, now lived comfortably and carefree, embracing ordinary life with newfound ease and joy.
The ox cart carrying them drew near the city gate.
Many passersby pointed and muttered unpleasant remarks about the cart.
When it was their turn, the guard halted the ox cart and shouted, “Halt! Ox carts are not allowed to enter the city.”
Uncle Zhu, honest and straightforward, protested, “Why can’t the ox cart enter? In Mu Royal City, ox carts could enter without issue. Why not here in Dungeon City?”
The guard’s fury flared. How dare these unruly commoners talk back!
With a roar, he barked, “Get lost! Mu Royal City no longer exists. Don’t use it as an example here!”
Suddenly, Zhu Han broke free from Miao Yun’s embrace and strode to her father’s side, fiercely glaring at the guard. “How dare you threaten my father! I’ll teach you a lesson, you villain!”
With a thought, she conjured a water sphere and hurled it at the guard.
Clearly, Zhu Han’s magical skills had improved greatly over the past eight days.
The guard, uncertain what this projectile was, swung his sword to strike it.
With a sharp “pfft,” the water sphere split in two as the sword passed through, but instantly reformed and splashed over his head, soaking him thoroughly.
Onlookers were stunned. What kind of attack was that?
Many farmers whispered anxiously, “Witchcraft! It must be witchcraft!”
The guard shivered, staring at Gu Feng and his group in shock. “Who are you people?”
He was visibly shaken by Zhu Han’s ability. Though unharmed, how did she summon a water sphere so effortlessly? Did she carry a basin of water in some sort of space ring? Where did the water come from?
Looking at the drenched guard, Zhu Han smirked proudly. “Serves you right for bullying my father.”
Uncle Zhu, still somewhat intimidated by the guards, apologized, “Sorry, my daughter is inexperienced.”
Another guard said, “If you unload the ox cart, you may enter the city.”
Uncle Zhu asked, “What about the old ox?”
The guard nodded, “The old ox can stay, but you must manage it properly. If it relieves itself indiscriminately, you will be fined.”
Overjoyed, Uncle Zhu replied, “No problem.”
So everyone dismounted, Uncle Zhu unharnessed the cart, and the old ox followed them into the city.
After Gu Feng’s group had walked some distance, the soaked guard grumbled, “Why let them in?”
His companion whispered cautiously, “Did you hear where they’re from? Mu Royal City! Rumor is, Mu Royal City was destroyed by a young man surnamed Gu. That little girl’s magic—it’s witchcraft. Do you think they’re ordinary? They look normal, but who knows if they’re demons. We should be careful.”
The guard nodded, suddenly enlightened and grateful to his comrade.
Inside the city, Zhu Han excitedly looked around, while countless eyes fixated on the old ox trailing behind them.
“Who are these people? How dare they bring a cow into the streets?”
“Shh, keep quiet. They came from outside the city. If the guards didn’t stop them, they must be extraordinary.”
“Wow! Candied hawthorn!”
Zhu Han bounced happily over, grabbed a skewer of candied hawthorn, and began to eat.
Spotting another treat, she dashed over.
“Wow! Fried pancake!”
“Hey, little girl, you haven’t paid yet,” the vendor called.
Zhu Han stopped, looking pitifully at the candied hawthorn vendor. “Uncle, do I have to pay? I don’t have money. Uncle, I only took one bite, can I give it to you?”
The man’s face darkened but waved a hand. “Forget it, you’ve already bitten it, how can I sell it now? Just eat it!”
“Yay! You’re so nice, Uncle, thank you!”
Then she ran toward the pancake vendor.
Seeing what happened before, the pancake vendor glared and asked, “You want a pancake? Do you have money?”
Zhu Han feigned innocence. “Uncle, I have no money, but I can trade you these candied hawthorns. See, I only ate one, there are still four left.”
Gu Feng shook his head in disbelief, then approached the hawthorn vendor and handed him a gold coin. “Here’s the money for the candied hawthorn.”
“Ah! That’s too much! I don’t want that much,” the vendor protested.
Gu Feng and the others continued walking.
Reaching Zhu Han, he handed her a pouch. “Take this to buy what you want.”
“Yay! Master is the best!”
She took out a gold coin and gave it to the vendor. “Uncle, here’s the money. I want a super big pancake.”
The vendor accepted the coin with a smile. “Alright, wait a moment. I’ll make you a super big pancake.”
Uncle Zhu winced at his daughter’s lavish spending, but seeing her happy eased his pain.
In the distance, a group of thugs approached a skinny man who had just arrived.
“Boss, it’s them—the rich ones! Buying candied hawthorn and pancakes with gold coins, but dressed so shabbily. Must be newly rich bumpkins. Should we hit them up?”
It’s worth noting that Long Xue’er had deliberately worn Miao Yun’s clothes, looking like a mountain girl. She said that since they were visiting Miao Yun’s family, it was better to dress simply and see how her family would receive them.
The thug leader’s eyes lit up. Having lost everything gambling last night and drowning in debt, he couldn’t miss such an opportunity.
“Let’s go collect protection fees.”
The thugs walked toward Wen Xingguo, who looked tall and robust, seemingly the leader of Gu Feng’s group. The leader slapped Wen Xingguo hard on the shoulder.
They expected Wen Xingguo to stagger, but he remained unmoved, glaring at the thug with displeasure.
In the past, Wen Xingguo would have slain a man with a wave of his hand.
His rough voice asked, “What do you want?”
The thug leader realized he had picked a fight with the wrong man.
Just then, a large group came sprinting over with fierce momentum. Spotting the thug leader, they shouted, “Dogzi, pay up now!”
Dogzi’s hand was still on Wen Xingguo’s shoulder. Furious, he shouted, “Shut up! How dare you ask my boss for money? Don’t you know who he is? My boss is invincible across the land. You’d better leave while you still can.”
The group, seeing Wen Xingguo’s rough attire, cursed, “Damn you, Dogzi! You can’t fool us with just anyone. Attack! Take them down too!”
As a fight seemed imminent, the pancake vendor pushed his cart and fled.
Zhu Han cried out, “Uncle, where’s my super big pancake?” Then, glaring at the approaching crowd, she roared, “You’ll pay for my pancake!”
“Water Arrow!”
