Chapter 101: Spirit-Gathering Formation

After washing up, Tao Ming went into the bedroom. The light inside was faint and soft, and Su Nanxing was coaxing the two little ones to sleep.

Tao Ming tiptoed to the bedside. Before she had even sat down, the two children had opened their eyes and were fussing for their mother to comfort them.

She had no choice but to gather one in each arm, telling them a story while gently patting their backs. Before long, both little ones were asleep.

Seeing that they had drifted off, Tao Ming closed her eyes and was about to sleep as well when Su Nanxing said aggrievedly, "Wife, I want you to rock me to sleep too."

Tao Ming ignored him.

Su Nanxing waved the book in his hand. "I have something good to show you."

Tao Ming's curiosity was piqued. She carefully shifted herself out from between the two little ones, leaned against Su Nanxing, and took the book from his hand.

Glancing at the cover, Tao Ming asked, "Spirit-Gathering Formation? Is this the kind of array that can increase cultivation speed?"

Su Nanxing grinned wickedly. "Look inside."

Tao Ming curled her lip and turned to the first page, only to see the words: "Husband and wife dual-cultivate within the spirit-gathering formation..."

She turned to look at Su Nanxing. "I didn't realize there was even such a book."

Su Nanxing looked a little awkward. "I haven't read it yet. Let's look at it together."

The two of them flipped through it together. The contents were not at all what they had imagined; most of it explained how husband and wife could cultivate together by making use of a spirit-gathering formation to raise their speed of cultivation.

At the end of the book, there was less than half a page that vaguely stated that within the spirit-gathering formation, if husband and wife harmonized yin and yang while coordinating with their technique, they could greatly increase their cultivation speed.

There was, however, a restriction: this method could only be used once a month, and each time could not exceed two hours.

Tao Ming could not help but complain, "No more than two hours? The person who wrote this probably has some serious misunderstanding about men."

Su Nanxing did not answer that. He flipped through the book and asked, "Did you remember those techniques?"

Tao Ming thought back. The methods in the book were very simple, mostly about how to coordinate with the other person to regulate breathing and guide spiritual energy, far easier than the water-controlling techniques.

But she did not want Su Nanxing to get his way, so she frowned and said, "Too difficult. I didn't remember them."

Su Nanxing leaned close to her ear. "I'll teach you myself."

Tao Ming said irritably, "And where is this spirit-gathering formation? We'll talk about it later."

With a strange gesture of his fingers, Su Nanxing caused a faint white glow to slowly light up across the bedsheet, revealing a complex pattern.

Su Nanxing said proudly, "The spirit-gathering formation."

Tao Ming curiously reached out to touch the white light, but it passed through her palm without the slightest resistance.

Su Nanxing laughed. "I laid the formation on the bedsheet. That white light is concentrated spiritual energy."

"When did you set it up? Weren't you with them the whole time just now?"

"I've been setting up spirit-gathering formations since I was little. I know it by heart. It's done in the blink of an eye."

Tao Ming condensed a small water orb, swallowed it, and said, "I still don't know what else you can control."

Su Nanxing opened his hand. Specks of starlight flew out from his palm like fireflies in the night. Soon the room was filled with floating points of light, as though they had stepped into a sea of stars, dreamlike and unreal.

Tao Ming's heart trembled. "Your technique is basically a weapon for flirting with girls!"

Su Nanxing said nothing. His fingers moved, and the starlight in the air gathered together, forming a line of words: Wife, I love you.

Tao Ming's heart pounded wildly. She felt the blood in her whole body rush out of control, and even her breathing quickened. She bit her lip to steady herself, then forced her voice to remain calm. "You really know how to play."

Su Nanxing knew Tao Ming all too well. He had long since guessed what her reaction would be. Reaching out, he laid Tao Ming down and bent over her. "Let's cultivate together."

When Su Nanxing saw that Tao Ming had calmed down, he asked, "How does it feel?"

With a thought, Tao Ming entered Star Shift and called out, "Star! Star!"

Star's voice sounded indignant. "You finally came in! Hurry up and return my black-armored turtle shell!"

"You only gave it to me the day before yesterday!" Tao Ming took out the black-armored turtle shell and placed it on the console. "Must you be like this?"

Star snorted. In a flash of white light, the black-armored turtle shell on the console disappeared.

Tao Ming had something on her mind and asked, "I've reached the third level of the Moon tier. Can I bring one more person in now?"

Star raised its voice. "How could that be possible?"

A beam of white light swept from the console, scanning Tao Ming from head to toe. Star asked in confusion, "What heavenly treasure have you eaten?"

Tao Ming was anxious. "Tell me first whether I can bring one more person in!"

"At the third level of the Moon tier, you can bring three people in."

That was exactly what Tao Ming had wanted to hear. She immediately left Star Shift.

Looking at Su Nanxing, she said, "I'll carry Ruanruan. You carry Nuonuo. I'm taking you somewhere."

Without saying a word, Su Nanxing picked up Nuonuo.

Tao Ming had a thought and appeared once more in Star Shift, only to find Nuonuo lying on the ground beside her, while Su Nanxing was nowhere to be seen.

She had no choice but to first send the two little ones into the bedroom in the small building before leaving Star Shift again.

When Su Nanxing saw Tao Ming reappear, he held out his hand and asked, "Did Nuonuo go in with you?"

Tao Ming nodded, puzzled. "Why couldn't you come in?"

As soon as she finished speaking, she held his hand tightly and entered Star Shift again, yet Su Nanxing still did not appear beside her.

Tao Ming was helpless. "Star, why can't my husband come in?"

Star replied, "There may be living things in the spatial container on his person, so naturally he can't be brought in."

Tao Ming had no choice but to go through it all over again. "I can only bring three living beings in right now. Your treasure pouch has a living thing inside it, so you can't come in."

Hearing this, Su Nanxing took the treasure pouch containing the living creature out and placed it on the bed. This time, the two of them entered Star Shift smoothly.
