Chapter 9: Sir, Your Car Has Arrived!
At this moment, Su Qingli’s face was pale with anger. Her own mother had humiliated the man she loved most, and right in front of him, tried to push her toward another man. For her, this was simply unbearable.
She shook off Zhang Liping’s hand, strode back to Jiang Hao’s side, and firmly took his hand, interlocking their fingers.
“Mom, my husband is Jiang Hao. I don’t care about appearances, nor do I need such empty glory.”
“As long as he stands by my side, that’s enough!”
“If you want to sit, go ahead, but I’ll take a taxi with Jiang Hao!”
With that, she pulled Jiang Hao toward the roadside to hail a cab.
At that moment, Jiang Hao couldn’t help but fix his gaze on their clasped hands. An indescribable complexity welled up inside him.
He’d always believed Su Qingli only used him, that there was no feeling at all. But why did she choose to stand by him now?
After coming off the operating table, Jiang Hao felt lost for the first time.
Just then, a low, rumbling sound came from the distance. Everyone saw a sleek, imposing black Bugatti Veyron glide onto the road, exuding an aura of dominance.
At the sight of this top-tier supercar, everyone couldn’t help but stare—even Su Qingli’s eyes flickered with astonishment.
As the saying goes, comparisons are odious. Next to the Bugatti Veyron, Pan Yixuan’s Maserati looked utterly cheap.
This left him feeling sore, but when he noticed Jiang Hao’s gaze also lingering on the sports car, he felt a little better.
With a sneer of disdain, he mocked, “Jiang Hao, you penniless loser, don’t even bother looking. This Bugatti Veyron is worth over ten million—it’s more than you could earn in a lifetime.”
“Even if you sold every organ in your body, it might only buy you a single tire…”
But before he could finish, the supercar rolled to a stop right in front of Jiang Hao.
A man in a suit and white gloves stepped out, holding a document folder and a set of car keys. With utmost solemnity, he approached Jiang Hao, bowed deeply, and said, “Mr. Jiang Hao, the Bugatti Veyron you commissioned through the Bai family has arrived today.”
“In the folder are the purchase contract and a bank card containing the five million remaining balance after the car’s purchase.”
“Please confirm and sign for receipt. Thank you!”
Everyone stood dumbstruck, their eyes nearly popping out of their heads. Especially Pan Yixuan, who felt as if he’d been slapped—the sting on his face was almost physical.
He refused to believe any of this was real, and rushed over, attempting to snatch the documents.
But faced with the security guard’s respectful demeanor toward Jiang Hao, Pan Yixuan was met with cold indifference.
With a swift step aside, the guard dodged Pan Yixuan’s grab and barked icily, “Mr. Pan Yixuan, are you trying to steal the sports car the Bai family purchased for Mr. Jiang Hao?”
“If so, I’ll report this truthfully to our family head!”
“Furthermore, is this behavior personal, or does it represent the entire Pan family?”
Pan Yixuan was so intimidated by the guard’s presence that his face flushed. “I… I’m not trying to steal anything. I just want to remind you, maybe there’s been a mistake?”
“This Jiang Hao is just the Su family’s live-in son-in-law, famous for living off his wife. How could he possibly afford a Bugatti Veyron worth tens of millions?”
“You’d better make sure you have the right person!”
“How ridiculous!” the guard sneered mercilessly. “I’m not blind. I know exactly whom I’m dealing with.”
“Stop meddling in what doesn’t concern you!”
“Get out of my way! If you delay my family’s business, I’ll report you to the head at once!”
With that, he once again handed the documents and keys to Jiang Hao, respectfully saying, “Mr. Jiang, please sign for receipt promptly so I can return to report to the family.”
Jiang Hao understood perfectly well that the Bai family was repaying a debt of gratitude, giving him face at just the right moment.
The timing was impeccable—so much so, he couldn’t refuse. With a wry smile, he signed his name on the contract.
He took the folder and keys, and said helplessly, “Please thank your family head for me. I’ll visit in person to express my gratitude tomorrow.”
“It will be conveyed. Wishing you a pleasant day, Mr. Jiang.” After a slight bow, the guard turned and left.
Pan Yixuan, slapped in the face once again, was close to tears. He refused to believe any of it. Gritting his teeth, he sneered, “Jiang Hao, the lengths you’ll go to impress Su Qingli are truly shameless!”
“Renting a supercar like this must cost a fortune. Hiring someone to act must cost even more. And to use the Bai family’s name! You must have a death wish.”
Though Zhang Liping coveted the car, she agreed with Pan Yixuan and shouted angrily, “You useless good-for-nothing! It’s bad enough you eat, wear, and live off my daughter!”
“But now you’ve spent her hard-earned money to rent such an expensive car just to show off!”
“Have you no conscience at all?”
She grabbed Su Qingli’s arm, speaking earnestly, “Daughter, do you see it now? Jiang Hao isn’t just useless—he’s greedy and vain. If you don’t want him to suck you dry for the rest of your life, listen to your mother and divorce him!”
Su Qingli was still dazed, shaking her head mechanically. “Mom, I swear, I really didn’t give him any money…”
Zhang Liping, naturally, didn’t believe a word and was about to press further when Jiang Hao cut her off, unwilling to waste any more breath.
He opened the purchase contract and said flatly, “Is the car rented? Can’t you see with your own eyes?”
“If you think the contract is fake, call the vehicle registry and check for yourselves. Don’t waste any more time here.”
With that, he opened the car door and got in. After starting the engine, he intended to leave, but recalling Su Qingli’s defense of him earlier, he finally rolled down the window and said coldly, “Are you coming or not? If you are, get in the car now!”
