Jiang Hao could only smile bitterly and said, “I just don’t understand why you dislike Qian Youwei so much. He’s wealthy, willing to spend money on you, and he’s the eldest son of the Qian family. In the eyes of other women, he’s practically a prince charming. Why do you refuse to even consider him?”

Bai Tianyu replied seriously, “Do you think I lack money?”

Would Bai Tianyu ever lack money?

Of course not! Although she currently had no money, it was only because she had run away from home without a word. As soon as she returned to the Bai family, she would be their eldest daughter once more, an indisputable heiress to a wealthy household. How could she possibly be short of money?

So, Jiang Hao shook his head without even thinking.

Bai Tianyu continued naturally, “There you have it. Since I don’t lack money, why should I marry someone I don’t like just for his wealth?”

Jiang Hao’s mouth fell slightly open, speechless.

This woman’s words made so much sense!

Turning to him, Bai Tianyu eyed Jiang Hao up and down, then joked, “Actually, I find you more interesting! If Qian Youwei lost his money, he’d be nothing. But even if you were penniless, you’d still be a master physician, with at least one exceptional skill!”

“Don’t joke like that. Spare me, please…” Jiang Hao shook his head and sighed, at a loss for what to do.

After getting out of the car, Jiang Hao and Bai Tianyu had a simple meal together and then spent some time playing at an amusement park.

It wasn’t that Jiang Hao wanted to linger outside for so long; Bai Tianyu simply wanted to have fun, and he was patiently accompanying her.

Unnoticed, the sky gradually darkened.

Though they’d already eaten, Bai Tianyu, still in high spirits, dragged Jiang Hao along to a nearby food street, sampling several snacks.

Watching her eat, her mouth glistening with oil, Jiang Hao felt both exasperated and amused.

“Have you played enough? Eaten enough? Shouldn’t we head back now?” Jiang Hao asked.

“Almost… Hey, there’s a cotton candy stand over there!” Bai Tianyu pointed excitedly to a vendor in the distance.

“You want more? Aren’t you afraid of getting fat?” Jiang Hao was utterly helpless.

“You’re such a killjoy! Besides, even if I get fat, what does it matter? I’m the Bai family’s eldest daughter. If I fancy someone, who would dare refuse to marry me?” Bai Tianyu folded her arms, speaking with lofty pride.

Jiang Hao had no choice but to hand her his wallet so she could buy cotton candy.

He returned to the car himself, lit a cigarette, and waited for her to come back.

Yet, by the time he’d nearly finished his cigarette, Bai Tianyu had still not returned, which struck Jiang Hao as odd.

He lowered the car window and looked outside, immediately spotting Bai Tianyu clutching her cotton candy and running toward him at full speed—half the candy had already shaken off onto the ground.

She was running for her life, pursued by a group.

Two burly bodyguards, a man and a woman, were chasing her. The man was none other than Qian Youwei, the eldest son of the Qian family, and the woman, dressed in a business suit, appeared to be his secretary.

“Almost didn’t escape… Quick, drive! Hurry!” Bai Tianyu slammed the car door shut as soon as she got in, urging Jiang Hao to flee.

Jiang Hao felt his head spinning. He never expected Qian Youwei would bring bodyguards. Clearly, this time, he meant business.

Jiang Hao was about to start the engine when the two bodyguards blocked the car, and Qian Youwei along with his secretary caught up.

Qian Youwei reached in through the car window, trying to grab Bai Tianyu, but she nimbly dodged him and raised the window.

Forced to withdraw his hand, Qian Youwei angrily pounded on the window.

“Bai Tianyu, get out of the car! I followed you all the way to Maple Leaf City—do you think I’ll let you stay here?” Qian Youwei roared outside.

Bai Tianyu fired back without hesitation, “Who asked you to follow me! Are you the Qian family’s eldest son or a leech? Get lost, I don’t want to see you!”

Qian Youwei sneered coldly, his tone icy. “Bai Tianyu, your father already agreed to marry you to me. We’re engaged. Now you’re trying to ditch me—don’t you think it’s a little late?”

“If my father agreed, let him marry you himself. Anyway, I’m not marrying you!” Bai Tianyu shouted.

Jiang Hao nearly burst out laughing. Bai Tianyu’s words were fierce indeed.

Then Bai Tianyu looked at Jiang Hao, urging him impatiently, “Why are you just sitting there? Start the car!”

“There are people blocking the way,” Jiang Hao replied helplessly.

Two hulking bodyguards stood in front of the Bugatti Veyron. How could Jiang Hao drive away?

Bai Tianyu, unbothered, ordered coldly, “Drive! Run them over!”

Run them over?

If they were really killed, I’d be the one held responsible, not you!

Jiang Hao was fuming, about to retort, when Qian Youwei outside threatened icily, “Jiang Hao, try starting the car! If you dare, I’ll smash your car to pieces!”

Jiang Hao hadn’t intended to start the car, but those words sparked a fire in him.

Just because you’re the Qian family’s eldest son, you can do whatever you please?

Today, I refuse to bow to you!

Jiang Hao turned the key. The Bugatti Veyron’s engine roared to life, sounding like an enraged dragon.

Seeing Jiang Hao had actually started the car, foot poised on the accelerator, Qian Youwei’s fury peaked. He waved his hand and commanded, “You two—smash it! If the car’s destroyed, I’ll pay. If someone’s killed, I’ll take responsibility!”

“Yes, sir!”

With that, the two bodyguards drew black batons from their belts and began battering Jiang Hao’s car.

The sound of chaos filled the air as the once dazzling Bugatti Veyron was left riddled with dents and holes.

At that moment, Jiang Hao was truly enraged.

He opened the glove compartment, pulled out a pair of black-and-white gloves, put them on, and stepped out of the car.

Standing before Qian Youwei, Jiang Hao stared at him coldly. “You smashed my car, eh? Do you believe that with just a flick of my fingers, you’d lose half your life?”

Hearing this, Qian Youwei burst out laughing.

“You? You think you can take half my life? You have that kind of skill? Jiang Hao, look at yourself—a mere doctor dares to challenge me? Are you even qualified? Let me tell you, in my eyes, you’re nothing but a dog!” Qian Youwei jabbed his finger at Jiang Hao’s nose, spittle flying as he cursed.
