Chapter 81: What Does That Have to Do With Me
Qian Youwei smiled faintly, then pointed at Jiang Hao and said, “I only want to prove my strength to him, nothing more.”
He turned his gaze to Jiang Hao, speaking with utter disdain. “Jiang Hao, in fact, I’ve been following you and Tianyu for quite some time. From the moment you entered this mall, I’ve been watching you both. Every move you make, I’ve taken note.”
Pausing, Qian Youwei continued, “You bought Tianyu a dress, then came here to buy shoes. Just two things, costing barely two thousand—less than three thousand—and you already looked pained over the money. Why are you so stingy?”
What Qian Youwei said was true—Jiang Hao was indeed a bit tightfisted.
But isn’t stinginess normal? Bai Tianyu isn’t Jiang Hao’s girlfriend; isn’t it reasonable for him to be stingy with her? If Jiang Hao were extravagant and generous with her, that would be even stranger.
Qian Youwei, however, didn’t give Jiang Hao a chance to respond and pressed on. “Jiang Hao, I really don’t understand how Tianyu could be interested in someone so miserly. But regardless, you and she have no future. You’re not worthy of her, and you can’t afford her. I advise you to be sensible, leave her early, and stop pestering her.”
“Only I am worthy of Tianyu. Only I can bring her happiness! If for no other reason, it’s because I am the eldest son of the Qian family!”
At this moment, Qian Youwei spoke as if delivering a passionate speech from a grand stage.
Whether Jiang Hao and Bai Tianyu were moved or affected by his words is another matter. The female sales assistant and the onlookers, however, were all astonished!
Only now did they realize that this handsome man was none other than the eldest son of the wealthy Qian family from the provincial capital!
Remarkable—the heir of the Qian family was here in Maple Leaf City, and he appeared right in this mall!
The saleswoman and the surrounding customers all cast shocked glances at Qian Youwei, especially the single women. Their eyes burned with admiration, as if gazing at a prince on a white horse.
After a moment, Jiang Hao finally spoke.
“Are you done?”
Qian Youwei nodded with satisfaction. “I’m done.”
“In that case, you can get lost,” Jiang Hao said bluntly. He had absolutely no liking for this supposed heir of the Qian family; all he felt was utter repulsion.
Originally, he had thought that Qian Youwei, the eldest son of the Qian family from the provincial capital, must be quite extraordinary.
But now, he realized that this fellow was just another foolish, spoiled rich kid with more money than sense!
Jiang Hao’s words enraged Qian Youwei.
He shouted, “Jiang Hao, are you really determined to go against me? I, Qian Youwei, have given you enough face—don’t be ungrateful!”
Jiang Hao ignored him completely, turned around, and prepared to leave.
“Stop right there!” Qian Youwei commanded furiously.
Jiang Hao stopped, annoyed, and looked back. “Qian Youwei, your wealth is your own business—it has nothing to do with me. Whichever woman you pursue is also irrelevant to me. All I ask is that you stop bothering me, alright? And frankly, no matter how much money you have, don’t expect to intimidate me! I, Jiang Hao, am not some pathetic worm who bows and scrapes just because he sees a wealthy heir!”
Jiang Hao’s words made Qian Youwei flush red with anger.
As the Qian family’s eldest son, Qian Youwei had never been spoken to like this in his life—it infuriated him beyond measure.
Yet he could do nothing about Jiang Hao.
After all, his wealth was his own affair; what did it have to do with others? Just because he was rich, did everyone else have to grovel before him?
Seeing Qian Youwei so furious yet so helpless, Bai Tianyu was delighted, laughing so hard she could barely straighten up.
She finally managed to stifle her laughter, wiped away the tears from her eyes, and teased, “Who would have thought—the dignified heir of the Qian family, tripped up by Jiang Hao today. How satisfying! Qian Youwei, listen to what Jiang Hao said—how sensible, how right! You should learn from him!”
With that, Bai Tianyu slipped on her old sneakers, handed the heels Jiang Hao had bought to the saleswoman, indicating she wanted them wrapped.
“Tianyu, what do you mean by this?” Qian Youwei asked angrily.
“My meaning couldn’t be clearer. Even if you bought every pair of shoes in the world for me, I wouldn’t want them! I only want the pair Jiang Hao bought me.”
Bai Tianyu replied without the slightest courtesy.
Her words infuriated Qian Youwei even more.
He was so angry that he nearly lashed out—his fists clenched tightly, trembling.
But as he watched Jiang Hao and Bai Tianyu leave, he didn’t pursue them.
After all, he wasn’t a fool; without absolute certainty, he wouldn’t act rashly.
He immediately pulled out his phone and dialed a number.
“Lü Yanling, bring two bodyguards over, and be quick!” he barked, then hung up and pocketed his phone.
The saleswoman approached hesitantly. “Young Master Qian... do you still want to buy all the shoes here?”
“They’ve left—what’s the point?” Qian Youwei snapped angrily.
The saleswoman was so aggrieved she nearly burst into tears.
And the women who had wanted to approach him, ask for his contact information, now all hung back, not daring to come forward.
Jiang Hao and Bai Tianyu had already left the mall.
Once they were in the car, Jiang Hao drove his flashy Bugatti Veyron toward another spot in the city center.
“You’re determined to cling to me, aren’t you? Want me to help you deal with Qian Youwei?” Jiang Hao asked, exasperated.
He saw through it now.
Bai Tianyu was using him as a shield against Qian Youwei, hoping Qian Youwei would give up pursuing her.
But this dragged Jiang Hao into the mess.
What had once been merely a problem between Bai Tianyu and Qian Youwei was now pulling Jiang Hao right into the heart of the storm, and naturally, it left him both angry and deeply helpless.
Bai Tianyu grinned. “You only just realized?”
“And what makes you think I’m capable of helping you deal with Qian Youwei?” Jiang Hao retorted.
Bai Tianyu thought for a moment, then said, “Because I saw you at the Su family’s banquet—so commanding, so impressive! I just felt you must be able to handle Qian Youwei...”
So that’s where the problem started.
Jiang Hao almost regretted rebuking the Su family at their banquet.
If he hadn’t, he wouldn’t now be entangled with this troublemaker Bai Tianyu.
