Chapter 139: I’ll Fight You with One Hand
Jiang Hao was slightly taken aback.
This woman had actually called him by his name instantly? Did she know him? Jiang Hao looked her up and down a few times, but he couldn't recognize who she was.
Meanwhile, the group of hoodlums had already walked over, surrounding Jiang Hao. The leader, a young man nicknamed Brother Ma, sneered after glancing at Jiang Hao twice. "I was wondering who it was—turns out it's you, kid! I was worried I wouldn't be able to find you, but to think you'd deliver yourself right to my doorstep. Why are you so obliging?"
Jiang Hao looked at him coldly. "You're a group of men bullying a defenseless woman. Have you no shame?"
"Shame? I have plenty of it!" Brother Ma burst into a wild, arrogant laugh.
The surrounding hoodlums sneered at Jiang Hao, their faces filled with contempt and disdain.
"What's this? Trying to play the hero?"
"Do you even have what it takes?"
"Kid, you're a long way from being a hero!"
The hoodlums kept jeering, spewing all sorts of ugly, mocking insults. Jiang Hao, however, remained unmoved, as if he hadn't heard a thing.
Su Qingli had also arrived. She stepped forward to stand in front of the woman and said, "Don't be afraid. My husband is very capable; you'll be fine... Wait, Jiang Jingru? Is that you?"
Jiang Jingru?
Hearing Su Qingli say that name, Jiang Hao finally remembered who the woman was. This woman, Jiang Jingru, was a classmate of theirs from university. However, Jiang Hao had been quite a loner back then and hadn't made many friends; he hadn't committed most of his classmates to memory, let alone after several years had passed. That was why he hadn't recognized her earlier.
"Su Qingli, it really is you! Thank goodness... but can your husband handle them? There are so many of them..." Jiang Jingru looked at the seven or eight hoodlums with deep concern. To her, Jiang Hao was only one person against a gang of seven or eight; no matter how one looked at it, he was at an absolute disadvantage.
Su Qingli smiled brightly. "Don't worry, my husband is very strong. All of them combined aren't even enough for him to fight with one hand."
A sudden silence fell over the group. After a few seconds, Brother Ma and his cohorts burst into laughter.
"All of us combined aren't enough for him to fight with one hand? You certainly know how to brag, beautiful!"
Brother Ma laughed so hard that tears and snot streamed down his face. The other hoodlums stared at Su Qingli with filthy, predatory gazes.
"I didn't realize this kid's girl was so pretty."
"Damn it, I can't hold back anymore!"
"Hell, let's kill him first, then take his woman right in front of him!"
As the hoodlums traded lewd comments, they cast hot, hungry looks at Su Qingli.
Jiang Hao was enraged. He was truly angry now. If these hoodlums had only provoked him, he wouldn't have bothered to get angry because he didn't take them seriously at all. But because they spoke about Su Qingli in such a way and harbored such intentions toward her, Jiang Hao could no longer tolerate it.
"I was going to show some restraint, but it seems I shouldn't have any pity or mercy for scum like you," Jiang Hao said coldly, tucking his left hand into his pants pocket. "Come on then. I'll fight you with one hand."
Brother Ma snorted, disdainfully. "Since you're looking for death, don't blame us. But when you're watching your woman being ravaged by us, don't you dare cry, or we'll look down on you even more!"
With that, Brother Ma waved his hand violently and shouted, "Get him!"
In an instant, the seven or eight hoodlums lunged at Jiang Hao, Brother Ma among them. Some even picked up bricks from the ground, clearly intending to do serious damage.
However, the moment Brother Ma reached him, Jiang Hao’s right hand shot out and struck him squarely on the bridge of his nose.
*Thud!*
With a dull impact, Brother Ma flew backward, slamming heavily into the wall before sliding down like a poster.
The others were stunned. Jiang Hao’s punch had been so powerful that it sent a full-grown man flying? But, refusing to believe it, they charged at him again, attacking from all sides. They refused to believe that so many of them couldn't take down one man.
With seven or eight of them attacking at once, an ordinary person would naturally be unable to defend themselves, especially against fists and bricks. But facing the onslaught, Jiang Hao remained fearless, his left hand still tucked in his pocket.
"You guys are trash," Jiang Hao said nonchalantly, his right hand moving in a blur.
Every fist he tapped recoiled as if shocked by electricity, and any brick he struck shattered into pieces.
"My hand!"
"My finger bones are broken!"
"What is going on?"
The alley was in chaos. The hoodlums retreated, looking at Jiang Hao with terror in their eyes. Jiang Hao simply stood there, left hand in his pocket, right hand hanging at his side, looking relaxed and composed.
"Didn't you say you were going to kill me? Come on, keep going," Jiang Hao said with a smile.
Brother Ma climbed to his feet, clutching his broken nose, his hands covered in blood. "This guy is trouble... Brothers, retreat!"
With those words, he took the lead and bolted toward the other end of the alley. The remaining hoodlums cast one last fearful glance at Jiang Hao before vanishing one by one.
Jiang Hao didn't pursue them; he couldn't be bothered. To him, these hoodlums weren't even worthy of being called enemies—there was no need to waste time or energy on them. Since they knew when to quit and had fled, he would let it go.
"See? I told you my husband is very capable," Su Qingli said to Jiang Jingru with a radiant smile.
Jiang Jingru stared blankly at the approaching Jiang Hao, her eyes filled with astonishment, as if she were seeing him for the first time.
"Are you both alright?" Jiang Hao asked.
"I'm fine, of course," Su Qingli said, nodding with a smile, then turned to Jiang Jingru. "Jingru, are you hurt?"
"No, I'm okay. You arrived just in time," Jiang Jingru replied quickly.
Hearing that both women were unharmed, Jiang Hao breathed a sigh of relief.
At the Maple Leaf City night market food stalls, Jiang Hao, Su Qingli, and Jiang Jingru sat at a table, eating and chatting. Jiang Hao and Su Qingli had only ordered a little, as they had already eaten, but Jiang Jingru’s side of the table was full. She ate ravenously, as if she hadn't had a meal in days, completely disregarding her appearance.
