Chapter 126: The Second Young Master of the Yang Family
Yesterday, Su Qingli even said that if Pan Yixuan made things difficult for him at the banquet, embarrassing him, she absolutely wouldn’t speak up for him.
Yet just now at the banquet, Su Qingli had been remarkably cooperative with Jiang Hao. Without her, Jiang Hao might not have managed to turn the tables on Pan Yixuan and make him lose face so thoroughly.
From this, it was clear that Su Qingli only had a sharp tongue but a soft heart.
Though she claimed she wouldn’t help Jiang Hao, when it truly mattered, she would never stand idly by.
“What are you looking at me for?” Su Qingli blushed, noticing Jiang Hao’s unwavering gaze.
Jiang Hao smiled. “I just think you seem even more beautiful and charming than before.”
“Don’t say nonsense...” Su Qingli lowered her head shyly.
At that moment, a loud announcement came from the entrance of the banquet hall: “The Second Young Master of the Yang Family has arrived!”
The mention of the Yang Family’s Second Young Master caused both Jiang Hao and Su Qingli’s expressions to shift slightly.
The Yang Family was the premier clan of Maple Leaf City, a power far beyond the Pan Family!
Yet here was the Second Young Master of the Yang Family attending Pan Yixuan’s birthday banquet—what did this mean?
Jiang Hao had a sudden premonition that this Second Young Master was likely the third challenge Pan Yixuan had prepared for him.
The first obstacle was the security guard’s blockade at the hall’s entrance.
The second was Pan Yixuan inciting the guests to mock them after entering the hall.
Jiang Hao had skillfully overcome both, even turning defeat into victory and embarrassing Pan Yixuan in public.
Now, the arrival of the Yang Family’s Second Young Master seemed to mark the third and most formidable challenge.
Indeed, it was an imposing presence.
As the Second Young Master entered, Pan Yixuan and many guests immediately greeted him with courteous words.
Though Pan Yixuan was the host of the birthday banquet, the Yang Family’s Second Young Master effortlessly stole the spotlight.
Any unaware onlooker might have thought he was the true organizer of the event.
After the usual pleasantries and compliments, the Second Young Master’s gaze fixed on Jiang Hao and Su Qingli standing quietly in the corner, then strode over.
Pan Yixuan and the other guests followed behind.
“So, this is the infamous Jiang Hao, the son-in-law of the Su family in Maple Leaf City?” the Second Young Master asked Jiang Hao.
At his words, the guests cast derisive and contemptuous glances at Jiang Hao, while Pan Yixuan sneered, “Infamous is a better word than infamous, if you ask me.”
“Oh, that’s rude and disrespectful,” the Second Young Master said with a smile, waving his hand as if dismissing the insult.
Then he turned to Jiang Hao and introduced himself: “Mr. Jiang, I’m Yang Ziyun, Second Young Master of the Yang Family. You must have heard of me. This is our first meeting; why don’t we be friends today?”
“Friends? Forget it,” Jiang Hao replied coolly.
Hearing this, one of the guests immediately stepped forward to reprimand Jiang Hao: “How dare you disrespect the Second Young Master? Who do you think you are to speak to him like that?”
“And who are you to defend the Second Young Master?” Jiang Hao shot back without hesitation.
The guest’s face flushed scarlet, his expression painfully awkward.
Yang Ziyun laughed heartily. “Mr. Jiang, you really are as formidable as the rumors say. I didn’t believe one man could defeat the Tianlong Group alone, but now it seems to be true.”
His words silenced the crowd for a moment.
One man defeating the Tianlong Group?
Impossible!
Though the Tianlong Group was an underground syndicate made up of unsavory youths and thugs, and no match for the great families, they were still a force not to be trifled with.
And to think one man had taken them down alone!
Everyone present was stunned, their faces showing disbelief.
Jiang Hao’s heart sank slightly.
Yang Ziyun already knew about his lone victory over the Tianlong Group and still came to provoke him. Did this mean the man was confident?
Su Qingli was no fool; she sensed the thick tension between Jiang Hao and Yang Ziyun. Hastily, she said, “Jiang Hao, I just remembered there are still things to arrange at the shop. We should leave quickly.”
Su Qingli wasn’t too worried about Jiang Hao clashing with Pan Yixuan—she trusted he wouldn’t lose or face danger.
But Jiang Hao confronting Yang Ziyun was a different matter.
After all, the Yang Family was the top noble house in Maple Leaf City, and Yang Ziyun was its Second Young Master.
Moreover, Yang Ziyun was reputed to be very powerful, undefeated in countless fights.
That was why Su Qingli used the excuse of unfinished business to try and whisk Jiang Hao away—she feared he might recklessly provoke Yang Ziyun and suffer serious consequences.
Before she could say more, Jiang Hao smiled reassuringly: “Don’t worry. With me here, there’s nothing to fear.”
Her heart only grew heavier hearing this; worry clouded her face.
She was about to urge him further when Yang Ziyun spoke first: “Mr. Jiang, your feat against the Tianlong Group is impressive, and it has piqued my interest. I also study martial arts. How about a friendly spar here at the banquet, in front of everyone?”
Upon hearing this, Su Qingli gripped Jiang Hao’s arm tightly. “Jiang Hao, don’t accept!”
Pan Yixuan stepped forward and said to Su Qingli, “Qingli, I understand your concern for Jiang Hao, but men’s affairs are not for a woman to meddle in.”
The guests around them cast provocative glances at Jiang Hao.
“Jiang Hao, are you scared?”
“What, don’t dare to spar with the Second Young Master?”
“You were so boastful just now—if you’ve got the guts, then accept!”
These guests had been deliberately stirred up by Pan Yixuan, each doing their utmost to pressure Jiang Hao into accepting Yang Ziyun’s challenge.
Jiang Hao, of course, saw through the scheme.
But would he back down?
Bringing Su Qingli here already proved his fearless resolve. With that, how could he possibly shrink from battle?
