Chapter 90: She Had Already Read the Question
"Why do you care? I mean, what does my business have to do with him? And why should I care? No matter how good Gu Jiayan’s grades are, what does it have to do with me? It doesn’t affect me at all."
“Oh~”
"Ruan Cha, don’t worry. If you have any problems with your studies, you can always come to me. Here, take this notebook for now."
Yun Zhe, the class life committee member, placed a notebook on Ruan Cha’s desk, glanced worriedly at that group of people, and then, his ears flushed red, hurried back to his seat.
Ruan Cha didn’t even have time to refuse...
The bell rang for class, and the girls gathered around Gu Jiayan dispersed. At last, Ruan Cha’s ears were granted a bit of peace.
-
School was over in the afternoon.
When Ruan Cha left, most of the class had already gone. She grabbed two books and a notebook at random from her drawer and stuffed them into her bag. Just as she stood up, she heard hurried footsteps by her side.
Turning her head, she saw Shen Jie standing at the doorway, panting, “I thought you’d already left!”
“Teacher... must you really block me like this?” Ruan Cha sighed, “My grades are actually very good, I don’t need your help.”
Shen Jie wore an expression as if this child was still talking nonsense.
Dragged by her bag strap, Ruan Cha was hauled to the office and sat down in utter resignation.
Shen Jie took out a test paper from his drawer. “Finish this, let me see what level you’re at.”
Ruan Cha took the paper and glanced over it—it was a chemistry mock exam, nothing particularly difficult except for the final comprehensive question, which was a bit more challenging.
“If you don’t know how to solve something, don’t leave it blank. Try to write something, so I can see how far you can get. And also—”
Shen Jie was still rambling on, but Ruan Cha had already finished all the multiple-choice questions at lightning speed.
Shen Jie looked down and saw Ruan Cha’s wild, flowing handwriting on the paper, scribbling without care. He slapped the desk in irritation, “Ruan Cha! Please take this seriously!”
Ruan Cha looked up, aggrieved. Wasn’t she already taking it seriously?
She had even read the questions!
“Mr. Shen, could you please be quiet? You’re distracting me from answering.”
Shen Jie nearly choked on his breath.
He slumped back into his chair.
Fine.
Let her make it up as she goes.
Once she’s done, he’d know what level she was at.
Fifteen minutes later, Ruan Cha had finished the entire chemistry mock exam briskly and efficiently. Not a single big question at the end was left blank; every answer space was filled completely.
Shen Jie held the paper, which still bore the marks of her rapid writing. He paused, then smiled, “Ruan Cha, you really know how to make things up, don’t you?”
Ruan Cha said nothing.
Shen Jie quickly pulled out the answer sheet and began grading with seriousness.
After checking the multiple-choice questions...
They were correct!
“Ruan Cha, did you memorize the answers?”
“Teacher, I never even touch the test papers.”
Shen Jie still thought she must have gotten lucky, like a blind cat catching a dead mouse.
But when he finished grading the entire paper, Shen Jie was completely dumbfounded.
He turned to her, “Ruan Cha, seriously, did you do this yourself?”
Ruan Cha nodded.
Shen Jie sucked in a breath, his eyes wide with excitement. “Swear to me?”
“Did you see me cheat?”
Shen Jie was stunned.
He flipped the paper back and forth, disbelief written all over his face.
A full ten seconds passed before he seemed to wake from a dream, suddenly clear-headed. “Ruan Cha, when you said your grades were good, weren’t you just comforting your teacher?”
“Mm.”
“Then why did you only get eight points on the entrance exam?”
“Didn’t feel like writing.”
Shen Jie: "!!!!"
