Chapter 6: Just a Child!
Chen Yan had never seen any woman act so boldly in front of Gu Zhenzhi.
For a moment, his mind buzzed.
Young lady, please don’t cause trouble for us!
Ruan Cha was slender, with delicate arms and legs. She leaped onto Gu Zhenzhi’s back, yet he didn’t move an inch.
Only when he felt the softness pressed against his back did Gu Zhenzhi’s brows tighten, his sharp dark eyes sweeping toward the refined face on his shoulder.
His gaze was cold and forbidding, his eyes like icy stars and a chilly moon, untouchable. “Get down.”
The two words, deep and cold, carried a bone-chilling frost.
Hearing his voice, Ruan Cha not only refused to get down, she clung even tighter, her chin audaciously rubbing against Gu Zhenzhi’s ear.
“No! You promised my master you’d take care of me!”
Her clear, shining eyes narrowed slightly; she had to accelerate the story, make Gu Zhenzhi fall for her quickly, so she could finish this swiftly and return to her own world.
Thinking this, Ruan Cha used her soft little hand to pinch Gu Zhenzhi’s ear, deliberately leaning closer, her warm breath brushing his skin. “If you go back on your word, don’t even think about getting any of my master’s patents in the future!”
Her bright eyes glimmered with mischief.
Those patents, after all, were hers to decide…
Gu Zhenzhi tilted his head forward a bit, weighing the pros and cons. He did, in fact, still need Old Shen.
Gu Zhenzhi let Ruan Cha hang onto his neck as he strode with his long legs toward the villa.
His dark eyes were deep, untouched by emotion.
Ruan Cha was like a pendant hanging lightly from him.
Everyone present, including Chen Yan, was utterly stunned by this scene.
Mr. Gu despised those women who’d do anything to get close to him, and yet this girl had first stopped him, calling him “dad,” then jumped onto his back—and now he was actually carrying her inside, indulging her!
Chen Yan’s heart trembled. Could she really… be Mr. Gu’s daughter???
That would mean Mr. Gu had gotten someone pregnant when he was seven years old?
This bizarre notion flashed through Chen Yan’s mind, and he shuddered all over.
What nonsense was he thinking???
At seven, Mr. Gu was just a child!
—
Ruan Cha clung to Gu Zhenzhi’s back as they passed through the villa’s gates, following the cobblestone path to the main entrance.
The villa itself was built in a remote, oddly chosen spot, and its interior design matched with a unified dark palette. There were hardly any bright lights, only dim and ethereal glows drifting through the space.
Once inside, Ruan Cha’s eyes took a few seconds to adjust.
She looked around at the decor and nodded silently. “Truly fits a villain’s style…”
She muttered to herself, barely audible. Gu Zhenzhi only caught the word “style.”
He paid it no mind and said in a low voice, “Get down.”
Now that they were inside, Ruan Cha had no reason to remain on Gu Zhenzhi’s back.
Hearing his emotionless voice, she pouted in displeasure, grumbling as she slid off his back.
Once down, she kicked off her shoes and naturally hopped onto the sofa, squatting rather than sitting. She didn’t like sitting; she usually squatted.
Wrapping her arms around her knees, she tilted her head up to look at Gu Zhenzhi. “I’m going back to the Ruan family tomorrow. You have to protect me!”
“Go back yourself.”
Gu Zhenzhi didn’t even look at her, his voice icy and devoid of any feeling.
Ruan Cha’s eyes, like scattered starlight, flickered as she gazed at him. “Once I’m back, the Ruan family will definitely bully me. Can you really bear to let that happen?”
