Chapter 40: Are You Out of Your Mind?

When Gu Zhenzhi drove according to Ruan Cha’s navigation and arrived at Mocity Amusement Park, his entire face was etched with refusal, every pore of his body radiating resistance.

“Are you sure?” His low, slightly hoarse voice pressed each word into Ruan Cha’s ears.

She instantly understood what he meant from his tone. Clearing her throat, her beautiful brows furrowed. “So you don’t want to do this, is that it?”

“No,” Gu Zhenzhi replied, parking the car. His long, well-defined fingers unfastened his seatbelt before he stood up and got out.

Ruan Cha hurried to follow.

The tickets had been gifted by the amusement park’s owner—she had a small mountain of them from S already.

Once inside, Ruan Cha pulled out her phone and read through the amusement park guide S had sent her. She rarely visited such places—if not for what she’d read online, that amusement parks were the best places to spark feelings, she would never have come.

Gu Zhenzhi and Ruan Cha walked in side by side. He was dressed in a suit, bearing an air of aloof refinement, and the moment they entered, a wave of admiring gazes swept over them.

“Look! That man is unbelievably handsome!”

“Wow, his aura is incredible, I’m in love! Is he some celebrity?”

“He’s so cute, oh my god!”

Many people took out their phones and started snapping photos.

The chorus of unfamiliar girls’ exclamations made Gu Zhenzhi frown with irritation. Ever since he’d resolved to take revenge on the Gu family, marriage had never entered his mind; not once had he planned for a special woman in his future. When the blinding flashes of cameras caught his eyes, his gaze turned icy cold in an instant.

He slowly lifted his eyelids, a chill sweeping from his eyes across those people’s phones. The next moment, just as he was about to take out his phone to notify Chen Yan, he caught sight of Ruan Cha, still glued to her phone, about to walk straight into a vintage-style pillar ahead.

The anger building in his chest dissipated somewhat, his expression regaining its calm. He reached out, pinched the hood of her sweatshirt, and half-lifted, half-pulled her away from the collision.

Ruan Cha felt a familiar sensation, her throat tightening as if someone had grabbed the scruff of her fate. She looked up at Gu Zhenzhi beside her.

As soon as she did, she noticed a group of women nearby eyeing them like predators.

Some even looked ready to rush over and ask for his contact info.

Ruan Cha instantly sensed danger. She coughed, cleared her throat, and boldly wrapped her arms around Gu Zhenzhi’s, staking her claim. “Darling! Let’s go buy some cute headbands first!”

The word “darling” rang out in a clear shout, so loud that people a hundred meters away could hear.

Gu Zhenzhi turned to her in astonishment, his calm eyes clearly spelling out: Are you out of your mind?

Ruan Cha ignored his look, instead giving a triumphant little smirk to the women around them.

Most, upon hearing they were a couple, tactfully dispersed.

Only after the crowd had thinned did Ruan Cha look up at Gu Zhenzhi, her eyes sparkling. “Don’t look at me like that. If I hadn’t helped you, you’d never make it through this amusement park in one piece!”

Gu Zhenzhi realized then that more than half the people crowding around before had melted away.

Their first stop was the headband stall. After surveying the selection, Ruan Cha picked out a pair of white rabbit ears for herself. Then, blinking her bright, deer-like eyes, she chose a pair of bear ears for Gu Zhenzhi.
