Chapter 15: Mastering Your Expression
After she finished speaking, she turned to Ruan Wei. “Weiwei, you must work harder to handle your relationship with Gu Jiayan at school. Your mother is still waiting for you to become the mistress of the Gu family!”
With this, Ruan Wei’s cheeks flushed a rosy pink. She stammered shyly, “Mom, what are you saying? How could Gu Jiayan possibly be with me…”
“My dear, don’t forget, you’re the only one at your school who can stand on the winner’s podium alongside Gu Jiayan! With the Gu family’s status, they’ll definitely look for a daughter-in-law with excellent grades and a good family background. You’re practically made for Gu Jiayan…”
Ruan Wei lowered her gaze bashfully, and as she thought of Gu Jiayan’s handsome face, a faint smile blossomed on her lips.
—
Outside the Ruan family’s villa.
Ruan Cha clung tightly to the hem of Gu Zhenzhi’s long coat as they walked.
Gu Zhenzhi was tall and lean, nearly one meter ninety, while Ruan Cha was only one sixty-six. No matter how quickly she moved her legs, she couldn’t keep up. In the end, her brisk walk turned into a little jog, and only then did she manage to trot along by his side, panting.
At last, she spotted a deep blue sports car up ahead and finally stopped, gulping in air.
Casting him a resentful sidelong glance, she muttered, “You don’t have a shred of pity for a lady. Why do you walk so fast…”
Her voice was soft and sweet, just loud enough for Gu Zhenzhi to hear every word.
He turned his gaze toward her, his flawless features tinged with a cold, indifferent smile. “You should be grateful I pulled you out of the Ruan family.”
Ruan Cha fell silent.
Clearly, this villain wasn’t going to be easy to win over.
She gritted her teeth in secret, but when she looked up to meet his eyes, her gaze was bright and clear, shimmering with grievance. “Why are you being so mean to me?”
Gu Zhenzhi’s expression remained impassive. Even the cold curve of his lips faded away.
“You can’t handle this? Then why go back to the Ruan family? To let them insult and mock you?”
With that, he turned and took the car keys from Chen Yan, heading to the driver’s side.
Ruan Cha glared furiously at his tall, straight back.
To hell with you, I’m doing it for the sake of the plot!
She hadn’t expected this villain to be not only emotionally deficient, but also so sharp-tongued.
In her heart, she cursed Gu Zhenzhi a thousand times over.
“When you insult me in your heart, control your expression,” he said coolly.
Gu Zhenzhi stood by the driver’s door, one arm resting on the roof, his deep, indifferent eyes fixed on her.
Ruan Cha fell silent.
She watched as he unlocked the car, then seized the opportunity to dart to the passenger door. In the blink of an eye, her petite frame was seated upright in the passenger seat, fastening her seatbelt in record time.
“Get out,” Gu Zhenzhi said from outside, his gaze icy.
“No!” Ruan Cha clung to her seatbelt with both fair hands, her cheeks puffed out in stubborn defiance. “If you think you’re going for a joyride and leaving me behind, forget it!”
Gu Zhenzhi slid his long legs into the car, his profile sharp and cold, lips parting slightly. “Who told you I was going for a joyride?”
“You just want to ditch me. If you try, I’ll call Grandpa right now!” Ruan Cha pulled out her phone from her pocket, lips pressed together in righteous seriousness as she opened her contacts and found Grandpa’s number.
As she dialed, she said, “I’ll tell him you’re mistreating me, not feeding me, trying to abandon me, completely ignoring me, and that you only agreed to take me in for the sake of his patents. You’re scheming and deceitful!”
