Chapter 145: In What Capacity Does Mr. Gu Have the Right to Control My Love Life?
Cyric kept his mouth shut, ignoring Cheng Xiuyan. His boss had told him that Cheng Xiuyan was no good and that he should stay away from him.
"Cheng Xiuyan, don't you dare provoke Cyric. He's easily embarrassed," Ruan Cha said, stepping in to protect Cyric from Cheng Xiuyan's flirtatious behavior. She didn't want him messing with her crybaby powerhouse.
Cyric watched Ruan Cha’s delicate profile in the rearview mirror. *Boo-hoo, the boss still loves me...*
"It's hilarious. Who would have thought that a 188-centimeter hunk of a man like him would have the heart of a young maiden?"
"Did you pay for his meals?" Ruan Cha shot him a sharp look.
Cheng Xiuyan raised an eyebrow. "Alright, alright, I won't say another word..."
-
The next day.
Ruan Cha and Cheng Xiuyan had arranged to meet in the morning, and he was coming to pick her up.
Ruan Cha deliberated over her wardrobe before choosing a pink dress. It fell to her knees, revealing her slender, snow-white legs. Her long, slightly wavy hair cascaded over her narrow shoulders, and her glistening, watery eyes sparkled like stars.
After applying a light touch of makeup, she made her way slowly downstairs.
Gu Zhenzhi was eating breakfast. In the cold, spacious dining room, he sat with his long legs casually crossed, meticulously bringing food to his lips. When he saw the girl descending the stairs, his dark pupils flickered slightly.
His fingers, clutching the glass, tightened just a fraction.
Ruan Cha hadn't contacted Gu Zhenzhi all day yesterday, and he hadn't spoken a single word to her either. The thought made her cheeks puff out in irritation.
She saw Gu Zhenzhi, but acted as if he weren't there. Clutching the strap of her crossbody bag, she walked toward the door, staring straight ahead. As she passed him, she deliberately avoided looking his way, her footsteps hurried.
"Eat breakfast."
Just as she reached the door, a deep voice resonated behind her. Gu Zhenzhi’s cool gaze swept over her, fixing on her hesitant back.
"I’m not hungry. My friend is coming to pick me up, and we’re going out to eat," Ruan Cha replied without turning around, staring stubbornly at the door. As she finished speaking, she reached out to grab the handle.
"What friend?" Dark, murky lights swirled in Gu Zhenzhi’s ink-black eyes. He stared intensely at her back, the pressure in his fingers tightening uncontrollably.
*Ding!*
Just then, the doorbell rang on the monitor by the door. Ruan Cha opened the feed, and Cheng Xiuyan’s face appeared on the screen.
"Little Cha, are you coming down, or should I come up to get you?"
Ruan Cha thought for a moment. "Come on up."
"Alright, be there in a second!"
"Ruan Cha, didn't I warn you not to date?" When Gu Zhenzhi caught sight of the man on the screen, he remembered the man who had held Ruan Cha’s shoulder the other day. His pupils contracted sharply, and his voice turned cold and heavy.
Ruan Cha turned around, walked over to the sofa with an air of indifference, and sat down. "In what capacity are you trying to manage my dating life, Mr. Gu?"
Gu Zhenzhi’s breath hitched. His dark, cold eyes grew even more chilling. Her deliberate distance and indifference filled him with irritation. He let his arms drop, his fists clenching. "Your master entrusted you to me..."
"My master can't control me. Do you think you can?"
No sooner had she spoken than she heard the elevator chime. The elevator was private, running directly from the ground floor to the luxury penthouse. As soon as Cheng Xiuyan stepped out, he saw the girl sitting on the sofa, her expression cool and aloof.
He flashed a grin and walked toward her.
