Chapter 136: Dare to Take It Off, and I'll Break Your Legs
Ruan Cha reached out to pull the object Gu Zhenzhi had draped over her head, but before she could move, she heard the man’s hoarse, dark voice: "Dare to take it off, and I'll break your legs."
Ruan Cha instantly froze: "..."
Although curious, she restrained her restless hands. She remained obediently still, making no further movements.
Not long after, Gu Zhenzhi wrapped a bath towel around his waist. He wore a white shirt draped loosely over his upper body. Hearing the silence, Ruan Cha removed the towel from her head. Once it was off, she caught a faint scent of alcohol in the air. Her brows furrowed as her gaze scanned the room, landing on a bottle of liquor sitting on the bathroom shelf.
Ruan Cha looked at Gu Zhenzhi. "You actually drank?"
As she looked, she noticed that Gu Zhenzhi had put on his shirt just like that, and the gauze that had been wrapped around his waist was now lying on the edge of the bathtub. Her eyes narrowed. "Why did you take off the gauze? If you do this—"
Ruan Cha’s worried gaze met Gu Zhenzhi’s exquisite, pale face. His deep eyes were tinged with a faint red. She didn't say another word; instead, she stepped forward and grabbed Gu Zhenzhi’s wrist. "I'll re-apply your medicine."
Ruan Cha couldn't pull him, and his voice was low, his breath laced with the scent of alcohol. "It’s not clean yet."
"What isn't clean? I'll help you!" Without a second thought, Ruan Cha grabbed a towel from the side and stepped forward to tug at Gu Zhenzhi’s shirt.
Gu Zhenzhi’s eyes darkened. He gripped the girl’s restless hands, his voice husky. "Do you think this is appropriate?"
His gaze was intense, his eyes as dark as ink, the clarity from just moments ago having vanished.
Ruan Cha blinked her large, glistening eyes. "What’s inappropriate about it?"
"I am a man, and you are a girl," Gu Zhenzhi murmured, his thin lips pressed together.
"We’re going to be together sooner or later anyway. What’s wrong with exercising my rights as a wife a little early?"
Ruan Cha’s bold, self-righteous little attitude genuinely left Gu Zhenzhi stunned for a few seconds. But in an instant, as he rolled the words "sooner or later" over in his mind, a faint, numbing sweetness bloomed in his heart.
Perhaps it was the alcohol going to his head, clouding his judgment, but the man who was usually so restrained allowed an imperceptible smile to flicker in his eyes. He quickly masked the expression. "Why are you so certain we’ll end up together?"
He stared straight into Ruan Cha's eyes.
The girl, her eyes damp from the bathroom mist, blinked. "It’s fate."
With that, she took advantage of his distraction and slipped the white shirt off his shoulders. "I’ve already seen everything while applying your medicine; what are you still hiding for?"
Gu Zhenzhi: "..."
Before he could refuse, the girl continued, "You’re so shy, what will you do in the future?"
Gu Zhenzhi’s silent eyes deepened.
Seeing that he didn't respond, Ruan Cha assumed he was just nervous and shy. She offered a sweet smile, her voice clear and sugary. "Brother Zhizhi, where else do you need to wash? Let me help you wipe it down. Your wounds haven't healed yet, so you can't get them wet, or they'll get infected and heal even slower... Besides, you shouldn't be drinking while injured. Alcohol promotes blood circulation, and since your wounds have finally stopped bleeding, drinking will only make them harder to heal..."
Listening to the girl’s light, soft voice by his ear, Gu Zhenzhi’s arm, which had been prepared to pull away, slowly dropped to his side.
