Chapter 114: I Can No Longer Live Without You
He remained silent for a long moment before slowly speaking, “Let go. This is school.”
Ruan Cha’s innocent, clear eyes looked up at him. “If it’s not school, does that mean I can hold you?”
“Ruan Cha.” Gu Zhenzhi enunciated each word deliberately.
“Gu Zhenzhi, are you angry?”
Her fair arms wrapped tightly around Gu Zhenzhi’s waist. No matter how much he tried to break free, Ruan Cha refused to let go.
“Why would I be angry?” Gu Zhenzhi’s dark eyes deepened slightly, one brow lifting subtly, his expression calm and unreadable.
“You realized I hid something from you again. You feel like you don’t know much about me and that I’ve been keeping secrets. That makes you unsettled, and when you feel unsettled, you get angry. When you get angry, you want to push me away. If you push me away, I’ll be homeless. I don’t want to leave. I want to see you every day. Brother Zhi Zhi, I can’t live without you anymore…”
The girl’s voice was soft and trembling, wrapped in a fragile huskiness.
Pitiful and aggrieved, as if afraid Gu Zhenzhi would simply abandon her.
Listening to that voice, Gu Zhenzhi’s heart twitched slightly.
He lowered his gaze, his dark pupils fixed on her incessantly chattering little mouth, and an involuntary faint smile and helplessness crept into his eyes.
After a long pause, as Ruan Cha stubbornly nestled into his arms, he spoke in a low tone, “Who told you I was angry?”
Ruan Cha’s expression stiffened. She lifted her small head and saw Gu Zhenzhi’s thin lips part slightly as he continued, “Haven’t we already agreed on a plan to accelerate understanding between us?”

“Yeah.” Ruan Cha slowly withdrew her hands, her clear, bright eyes finally shining with a hint of light. Her voice was soft and small as she asked, “So… you really aren’t angry?”
“No, I’m not.”
As Gu Zhenzhi’s words fell, Ruan Cha’s heart that had been hanging in the air finally settled. Reluctantly, she bid him goodbye and returned to the classroom, ready for class.
Gu Zhenzhi remained standing where he was, staring at Ruan Cha’s back until she entered the classroom before finally lowering his gaze.
Just as he was about to look away, he saw Ruan Yingzhe and Kong Xian emerging from the office.
Both wore expressions as if they still hadn’t recovered.
“How does Cha Cha have such good relationships with those professors?” Kong Xian was shocked, unsure how to hide her expression.
“I don’t know either, but now I can feel that this stubborn girl has an extraordinary background. Do you remember the Q7 Research Institute she mentioned last time? From what I’ve heard, she might have some connection with that institute. The polygraph project has been stuck for a long time. Let’s go ask her about it.”
“But Cha Cha isn’t close to us. Will she even help?”

There stood a noble yet indifferent man, his gaze cold and merciless, radiating an aura of hostility. His dark eyes fixed on them with a menacing glare.
Ruan Yingzhe’s calves trembled instinctively in fear.
“Don’t show up in front of her again. Otherwise, forget about getting the project. Your entire Ruan family won’t be able to stay in Mo City.”
Gu Zhenzhi approached them slowly, his face cold as frost, eyes fiercely aggressive. The threat and icy hostility in his gaze were unmistakable.
Seeing Ruan Yingzhe hesitate to respond, Gu Zhenzhi’s voice grew colder still. “Did you hear me?”
Beside him, Chen Yan stepped forward and grabbed Ruan Yingzhe’s wrist tightly.
A sharp pain shot through.
Ruan Yingzhe gasped softly, cold sweat pouring down.
He quickly withdrew his gaze and lowered his head. “I-I heard you!”
“Now get lost.”
“Y-yes…!”
