Chapter 13: The Ancestral Grave's Feng Shui Is Compromised
Li Chengfeng put on his clothes. Because he had not slept well the night before and was visited by two children in his dreams to express their gratitude, he felt physically exhausted and his legs were weak.
He opened the door and, with a look of disgust, stared at Ye Mengyao, who was standing at the entrance. "Miss Ye," he said impatiently, "how many times must I tell you? Your father and your aunt becoming lame and mute has nothing to do with me. Please stop bothering me, will you?"
Ye Mengyao refused to listen to his explanation. She glared at Li Chengfeng with venomous eyes, looking as if she were ready to risk everything to fight him.
The previous night, after Ye Wushuang lost her sight, Ye Mengyao had taken her aunt to see Hu Yansong, the vice president of the Occult Arts Association. When Hu Yansong saw that Ye Wushuang was blind, he was incredibly astonished. She had been perfectly fine two days ago; how could she suddenly have gone blind? He was filled with confusion, unable to understand why her vision had failed so abruptly.
Just as he was wondering how to deceive the two women, Ye Mengyao recounted what Li Chengfeng had said earlier—that Ye Wushuang’s eyes and neck would suffer problems. Hu Yansong immediately concluded that Ye Wushuang’s blindness must have been caused by a curse cast by Li Chengfeng. Facing such a profound curse, Hu Yansong claimed he was powerless, insisting that the only way to resolve it was to find the person who cast it.
Ye Mengyao and Ye Wushuang felt helpless, but they trusted Hu Yansong’s words implicitly. They had no choice but to return to the Ye family residence and wait until dawn to seek out Li Chengfeng, hoping he would lift the curse.
Unable to see, Ye Wushuang spent a sleepless night. In the middle of the night, she wanted a drink of water and tried to ask Ye Mengyao to pour her a glass, but no matter how hard she tried, she could not make a sound. In the span of only six or seven hours, Ye Wushuang had become mute as well. Upon discovering that her aunt had lost her voice, Ye Mengyao was filled with rage. Before dawn broke, she arrived at Suiyuan Hall to demand an explanation from Li Chengfeng.
Staring at Li Chengfeng with hateful eyes, she loathed the man. Without wasting any more words, she walked straight into Suiyuan Hall, opened her handbag, and dumped its contents onto the coffee table.
Ten stacks of red banknotes lay scattered across the table.
"Isn't this what you wanted? Money?"
"Here is 100,000. As long as you lift the curse on my father and aunt, I will give you another 900,000."
Li Chengfeng was stunned for a moment. He stared fixedly at the cash on the table, swallowing hard. This was 100,000; he had never seen so much money in his entire life. He had been worrying about how to afford food for the day, and now someone had delivered money right to his doorstep.
Seeing Li Chengfeng’s naive, countrified reaction, Ye Mengyao looked at him with nothing but contempt. *Poor wretch,* she thought, *it’s just 100,000. Is it really worth acting like this?*
To the wealthy, 100,000 might be trivial, but to the poor, it was an astronomical figure.
Seeing how generous Ye Mengyao was, Li Chengfeng’s attitude underwent a drastic change. The anger on his face vanished, replaced by an expression of righteous integrity, though his eyes remained glued to the money on the table, fearing the bills might fly away. He spoke with feigned solemnity.
"Miss Ye, money is of no consequence to me. I have always regarded gold and silver as mere dirt. It is your filial piety toward your father and aunt that has moved me. For the sake of your devotion, I agree to lift the curse from your father and aunt."
Ye Mengyao had already determined that the reason her father and aunt had become blind and mute was because Li Chengfeng had cursed them. Li Chengfeng knew that if he told her it was all a matter of Feng Shui, she would never believe him, so he simply went along with her idea of a "curse."
Watching Li Chengfeng’s hypocritical display, Ye Mengyao detested him even more and longed to kick him to death.
"Since you’ve agreed, hurry up and lift the curse so they can suffer less."
"Very well. Wait a moment while I gather my things."
Li Chengfeng took his Sanhe compass, locked the door of Suiyuan Hall, and got into Ye Mengyao’s luxury car.
This was his second time riding in her car. Observing Ye Mengyao, who held the steering wheel with a perpetually cold expression, Li Chengfeng did not mind her attitude; after all, he had chosen to help her for the money. It was merely a transaction.
Ye Mengyao intended to head back to the Ye residence to have Li Chengfeng lift the curse, but he spoke with a serious tone, "Miss Ye, to lift the curse, I must first go and examine the ancestral graves of your family."
"Why go to our ancestral graves? Does that have anything to do with breaking the curse?"
"Of course it does. Without visiting your family’s ancestral graves, I cannot undo the curse on your father and aunt."
Ye Mengyao felt helpless. She knew nothing about curses, so she could only follow Li Chengfeng’s instructions, turning the car around and heading toward the Ye family’s ancestral graveyard outside Qingzhou City.
About two hours later, they arrived at the site. Li Chengfeng stepped out of the car and looked at the Ye family graveyard before him. An oval-shaped hill lay on the ground, serving as the main peak of the area, with a smaller hill connected to it in front. From a distance, it looked like a turtle lying on the earth.
He then turned to look into the distance; fifty meters from the hill, a large river flowed past the peak toward the downstream.
Seeing this Feng Shui configuration, Li Chengfeng could not help but praise it.
"A magnificent Feng Shui formation: the Golden Turtle Hatching an Egg."
Standing nearby, Ye Mengyao looked at him with confusion.
"What did you just say?"
"I said the Feng Shui formation of your ancestors is called the Golden Turtle Hatching an Egg."
