The Interstellar Alliance Military Academy is the finest alliance military school across the entire galaxy. Those who gain admission here are essentially the elite of the star systems. Most students are selected through successive rounds of screening on various planets before taking the unified Interstellar Alliance entrance exam. Even females are no exception to this rigorous process. The purpose is to cultivate outstanding interstellar talent for the galaxy.

A small number gain entry through connections, with Su Suhua being a typical example. However, since she is female, the impact of this is minimal; even if people know she got in through connections, no one voices any objection. In the interstellar realm, due to the scarcity of females, they often enjoy certain special privileges. As a female, she hasn’t faced much discrimination, but the few beastmen that accompany her are a different matter. Because they didn’t enter through the normal selection and examination process, there are some whispers about them within the academy.

Although the Interstellar Alliance University is a prestigious institution, its dormitory accommodations vary according to one’s financial means. Nobles like Su Suhua naturally reside in the finest residences—the private villa district within the academy. Below that are boutique apartments, then standard housing, and lastly, communal dormitories.

Su Suhua’s residence is the most luxurious standalone villa on campus. Usually, it is Su Suhua who initiates visits to him; Ruan Nan occasionally goes to her villa. Despite the infrequency, it only takes a ride in a hovering car to get there. If not for walking today, he would never have realized just how far her villa is from his student dormitory. His feet were worn raw after walking less than half the distance. He took the hovering car there but walked back on foot. Along the way, many people stared at him as if he were a joke.

If Su Suhua thought that humiliating him like this would make him submit and become her contracted beastman, she was sorely mistaken. What she did today, he would remember well. She could wait—next time she came to see him, he would never give in so easily.

Finally dragging his aching feet, he entered his room and planned to rest a while. But upon opening the door, he found the room, once full of belongings, utterly empty—as if a thief had ransacked it. His first instinct was to call the dormitory management center, but before he could dial, several voices sounded in his ear.

“Butler, should we move this bed out?”

“Yes, I checked the purchase list—the princess bought this bed too.”

“Butler, the sofa has been moved!”

“The butler’s intelligent robot has been moved as well!”

Seeing the people coming and going, Ruan Nan frowned, about to curse, but then noticed Su Suhua’s butler smiling kindly at him. “Mr. Ruan, the princess has asked me to pack up. I’ve inventoried everything and found that one set of the virtual holographic projection devices is missing. Have you seen it anywhere?”

What on earth was Su Suhua up to? She actually sent people to his dorm to clear out his belongings! Was this an attempt to force his compliance? Hmph. She was really only capable of this.

When he ignored her, she would soon be apologizing and sending a bunch of stuff back. The items moved out would eventually be moved back—what was the point? This time, she had truly humiliated him, and he would not forgive her so easily.

His eyes darkened with deep intensity. Seeing his silence, the butler asked again politely, “Mr. Ruan, may I ask where the virtual holographic projector is?”

Ruan Nan thought for a moment, then laughed it off: “It’s in the lab. I’ll bring it to you tomorrow.”

That device had been a birthday gift from Su Suhua, gathering dust in a corner until he recently unpacked it for training. The butler smiled slightly, courteous as ever: “No trouble, Mr. Ruan. The princess has ordered that all her belongings be returned to the princess’s mansion today. I will send someone to retrieve it.”

Though his expression remained unchanged, the butler inwardly thought: The princess is finally trying to sever ties with this phoenix man; she must not give him a single chance.

The butler’s words sounded as if Ruan Nan was stubbornly clinging to that holographic projector. His face instantly clouded over, dark enough to drip. At that moment, the movers reported: “Butler, all items sent by the princess have been inventoried and are ready to be taken away.”

The butler nodded. “Understood. Mr. Ruan, I’ll take my leave now.”

He then boarded a hovering car and departed swiftly.

Ruan Nan stared at the now empty room—nothing remained but the bare walls, his expression grim. The butler had truly moved everything out; tonight, he wouldn’t even have a bed to sleep on. Su Suhua was definitely pushing him to the edge.

His eyes dark and brooding, lost in thought, he was about to fetch medicine to treat his blisters when the doorbell rang. He had to limp over to open it—it was the dormitory manager.

Usually, the manager treated him well; whenever Ruan Nan requested something by phone, it would be delivered promptly. They had a decent relationship and a good impression of each other.

Normally, he would invite the manager inside, but the room was now empty, so he did not want him to enter. The manager poked his head in and asked, “Is there something I can help you with, Ruan?”

“Oh, it’s like this, Ruan. The school board just notified us that you can no longer stay in the boutique apartments. You need to find somewhere else to live.”

Ruan Nan frowned. “What does that mean?”

The manager smiled. “It means just that, Ruan. Please move out immediately.”

He had lived in the boutique apartments for several years, comfortably. Why was he being forced to leave now?

He paused, then asked, “Is this Su Suhua’s doing?”

The manager smiled still. “If you want to keep staying here, you can—but you’ll need to renew and pay the accommodation fee.”

The monthly rent for the boutique apartments was 100,000 interstellar credits—far beyond what a commoner from a lower-tier planet like him could afford.

His eyes dropped. “I understand. I’ll move out immediately.”

Unable to afford the boutique apartments, Ruan Nan had no choice but to return to the communal dormitory—a cramped and crowded place for six occupants per room, built by the Interstellar Assembly for students from impoverished backgrounds.

He had stayed there before but had some conflicts with others. When Su Suhua found out, she helped him find his current place.

Now, with her clearly expecting him to bow and beg, he would never do that. He would temporarily move back to the communal dorm, certain he would return someday. Grabbing some basic daily necessities, he stepped out the door but was stopped by the dorm manager.

“Ruan, you need to take these books too. The room is being reclaimed.”

He had no choice but to pack them up again.

Just wait, Su Suhua.

You’ve humiliated me this time. The next time you come looking for me, I promise I won’t be so easy on you.
