Chapter 58: Come to My Side
The Interstellar Network was buzzing with endless arguments and heated debates.
Deep within the Holy Land.
Nian Tu had been transported beneath the Divine Tree while fast asleep. Suddenly, all the noise around her faded away, as if the world had pressed the mute button.
Her entire body gradually relaxed, filled with an incomparable sense of peace. Her curled-up hands and limbs slowly uncoiled, and the chaotic storm within her sea of consciousness began to subside.
After an unknown length of time.
"Drip—"
A single drop of dew fell onto her eyelid.
Nian Tu’s eyelashes fluttered slightly, and she slowly opened her eyes.
Lifting a hand to wipe away the cool droplet, she blinked, feeling a clarity in her mind that she had never experienced before.
Awakening... was it a success?
Raising her head, Nian Tu gazed at the legendary Divine Tree, her eyes widening in astonishment.
Over countless eons, through the vicissitudes of time, the Holy Land had transformed from towering mountains into vast lakes, then into flat plains, and later into deep canyons... The surrounding life shifted and vanished, but the Divine Tree stood eternal. Its ancient bark was etched with overlapping traces of time, tall and straight, towering so high that looking up failed to reveal its peak.
The canopy blocked out the sky, and dappled light and shadow flickered beneath the branches. In the transport device nearby, the other unconscious females lay in disarray. Although their postures were somewhat ungraceful, their expressions were completely serene and peaceful, as if the Divine Tree were truly protecting them, bestowing blessings, and guiding them through their awakening.
Shocked by this fantastical and magnificent scene, Nian Tu slowly stood up and looked around. Suddenly, she noticed the Divine Tree’s flexible, slender branches swaying without any wind, gently brushing against her shoulder.
The moment the branches brushed past her, Nian Tu froze.
Somewhere in the ethereal void, she seemed to hear an ancient voice. She could not tell if it belonged to a man or a woman, young or old, nor could she recognize the language, yet she miraculously understood its meaning—
This Divine Tree... was calling her!
"Come..."
"My child..."
"Come to my side..."
The voice constantly called out and urged her.
It was extremely urgent, yet carried no malice toward her.
After hesitating for a long while, Nian Tu steadied her mind and stepped forward toward the Divine Tree.
Sensing her approach, the branches danced and swayed with joyful exuberance as if possessing a consciousness of their own. They carefully brushed against her hair, limbs, and face with an extraordinarily light and tender touch, overflowing with deep affection.
The joy of the Divine Tree was unmistakable, sweeping away its previous solemn stillness and revealing a lively, endearing charm.
Nian Tu had never imagined that a tree could display such vivid emotions.
For some reason, she felt a profound sense of intimacy toward this tree, and her wariness gradually faded. She raised a hand and tentatively touched the thick trunk: "Are you calling me?"
The Divine Tree gently swayed, its leaves rustling ceaselessly.
Nian Tu inexplicably understood its reply: "It is me."
A few branches spontaneously twisted together into a rope, weaving a swing, and invited Nian Tu to sit upon it.
Miraculously, Nian Tu could actually sense a feeling of doting indulgence emanating from the tree.
Feeling somewhat flattered, she said, "...Thank you."
Hesitatingly, she sat down, and the Divine Tree carried her as it slowly and gently rocked back and forth.
At such close contact, not only did that sense of familiarity grow even stronger, but Nian Tu even experienced the bizarre sensation that her bloodline was intertwined with this towering giant tree.
She couldn't help but place a hand over her heart.
A rhythmic beating came from within, as if resonating and synchronizing with the Divine Tree.
"My child..." the Divine Tree called to her softly.
Numerous branches surged from all directions, wrapping around Nian Tu like the swaddling clothes of an infant, or a safe and warm cradle.
Surrounded by a faint, fresh fragrance, Nian Tu inexplicably felt a sense of familiarity and peace.
The Divine Tree emitted a gentle, shimmering glow.
In an instant, Nian Tu suddenly felt a heavy weight added to her soul. In her sea of consciousness, something was struggling to take root and sprout, breaking through the soil after enduring countless hardships—
Pop!
A tender little seedling abruptly emerged from the top of Nian Tu's head, vibrant and full of vitality, resembling a tiny sprite.
Nian Tu: "..."
With a vague intuition, she tremulously raised a hand to touch the top of her head.
She touched nothing.
Before she could even breathe a sigh of relief, the moment she withdrew her hand, she discovered that the seedling had appeared in the palm of her hand.
"!!!"
Nian Tu was struck with terror.
Had she turned into a plant person??
However, looking closely, the seedling did not seem to be physical, but rather a phantom existence—much like the black mist surrounding male beastmen—visible only to her eyes, yet untouchable.
With a single thought, the seedling vanished, returning to her sea of consciousness.
So that was it.
Nian Tu let out a long breath, a sudden realization dawning on her.
She clearly sensed that her control over her spiritual power had strengthened. Her once-ethereal spiritual power had seemingly materialized, condensing into the trembling little tree sprout within her sea of consciousness.
This tree sprout was her spiritual body.
"Very good..." A wave of joy emanated from the Divine Tree, as if it were rejoicing for her.
Nian Tu couldn't help but dazedly raise her head to study the Divine Tree.
Whether it was her imagination or not, she felt that her spiritual body looked remarkably similar to the Divine Tree before her, resembling its juvenile form.
Coupling this with the tree's address toward her... and this wondrous, blood-linked sensation...
Could there be some special relationship between her and the Divine Tree?
Yet she—she was clearly a transmigrator, not a native resident of this world at all!
She was merely an ordinary person from Earth...
Puzzled beyond measure, Nian Tu knitted her delicate brows together.
Seeming to perceive her confusion, the Divine Tree tapped the center of her brow with a single branch.
The chilling touch caused Nian Tu to shudder slightly, and she involuntarily closed her eyes.
In an instant, a scroll unfolded in her mind, flashing with dreamlike fragments—the past memories of the Divine Tree—
In a hazy blur, Nian Tu witnessed scenes from the ancient era where beastmen devoutly prayed to the Divine Tree, singing and dancing in circles around it.
Nourished by the faith of the beastmen, the Divine Tree grew ever more powerful, granting them protection and serving as their guardian deity.
As time passed, faith gradually faded, and the beastmen no longer relied on the divine; consequently, the power of the Divine Tree began to gradually wane...
The memories stretched on endlessly, suffused with a faint, lingering sorrow.
Until the scene shifted, and the sorrow abruptly transformed into the joy of life—the Divine Tree nurtured a seed.
Cared for meticulously for tens of thousands of years, the seed failed to sprout, but one day suddenly transformed into a human infant—plump, fair, tender, and overwhelmingly adorable.
The Divine Tree had woven a cradle with its branches, and the baby slept soundly within it without crying or fussing, a sweet smile lingering on her chubby, rosy cheeks.
Watching this scene, Nian Tu’s heart hammered wildly, and she was shocked beyond measure.
"!!!"
This child...
Clearly looked identical to what she had looked like as a child!!!
Not just the color of her hair and eyes, from her forehead and eyebrows down to her nose and mouth, even including the distinctive little mole beneath her eye—everything was an exact match.
Nian Tu abruptly opened her eyes and looked toward the Divine Tree, her expression bewildered. "...That was me?"
