The young female had skin as pure as snow and a beauty that held everyone's gaze irresistibly.

No one was willing to witness her fall victim to the snake’s attack, to see her life extinguished so tragically.

Among those present, some were already fans of her, having seen her sense of responsibility and uniqueness during the incident at the Jade Pavilion.

They could tell that she wasn’t seeking trouble but acting out of compassion, unable to bear watching the great serpent kill, and wanting to intervene.

Unfortunately, the young female was too naive—perhaps unaware that her actions might invite disaster upon herself.

“Run!”

“Don’t let it bite you! Even if you survive, you’ll be crippled!”

Lu Zhan grasped her hand firmly. Though he did not approve of her reckless bravery, he did not blame her for taking the risk. He scooped her up and moved swiftly away.

A male beast in uncontrolled beast form could not withstand the slightest provocation and would attack furiously anyone who offended him.

Sure enough, the great black snake was enraged by the piece of clothing thrown at it. It released the mother and child, who were nearly fainting from fear, and instead became agitated, coiling around the jacket that had been tossed at it.

The soft, delicate yellow garment, still carrying the faint, sweet scent of the young female, looked fragile beneath the snake’s metallic, shimmering scales—as if it could tear to shreds at any moment.

Yet the sound of ripping cloth never came.

Everyone stared in disbelief as the maddened black mamba hesitated when it touched the jacket. Its movements slowed, and it gently nudged the fabric with its head, as if sniffing.

“What is it doing?”

“It seems to be calming down…”

“No, no! It’s going mad again!”

Realizing this soft, fragrant thing was lifeless, the snake erupted in fury once more.

It did not drop the jacket but instead coiled it tightly, its intent clear—it charged directly at the young female.

Lu Zhan, carrying her, moved quickly through the crowd, putting some distance between them and the black snake.

But the snake had fixed its gaze on the young female.

No matter where they hid, it could identify her precisely.

After several changes of position, provoking waves of startled murmurs from the crowd, Lu Zhan gave up trying to evade. He moved away from the crowd with her, to avoid harm to bystanders.

The great black serpent swiftly closed in. Lu Zhan shielded the young female behind him, rolling up his sleeves, ready to fight decisively.

He would not be at a disadvantage in a one-on-one battle. He only avoided confrontation earlier out of concern for the young female’s safety.

But since the snake was fixated on her, he had no choice but to solve this with force.

Clearly, an inherent hostility existed between males.

The black snake also found Lu Zhan displeasing.

This guy always hovered near the target, hiding and blocking him from reaching her. He had long wanted to get rid of him and monopolize the soft, fragrant prize for himself.

Compared to calm Lu Zhan, the uncontrolled black mamba was impulsive and launched the first attack—

The young female, Yan Tu, was shocked!

Before throwing the jacket, she already knew she was courting death, but she calculated that the odds of being attacked were low.

Even uncontrolled lions obeyed her in her presence. Besides, she had played with snakes often as a child—big snakes, small snakes, venomous or not—never once bitten.

But she forgot to consider Lu Zhan.

For beastmen, protecting the female was an unshakable duty of the males. Many strangers had even stepped forward to help defend her, especially Lu Zhan, her guardian.

Her reckless actions meant Lu Zhan had to bear the consequences.

“Stop!” Yan Tu stretched out a hand, signaling to halt.

Everyone froze.

This young female was so adorable—how could she be so foolish?

Did she really think she could stop a raging, uncontrolled male beast this way? Impossible!

To their astonishment, the black mamba’s attack truly paused at her voice.

It seemed eager to approach the delicate little female, but Lu Zhan’s presence blocked its way, making it restless.

Whispers rippled through the crowd.

“Is it just me, or does it not want to hurt her?”

“But uncontrolled males are like beasts—no matter if the target is female, they won’t stop attacking.”

“There have been many cases of uncontrolled males attacking females before…”

“It even tried to kill its own mother just now, and she was female too.”

“I say it’s because this young female is kind. It likes her.”

“You’re stupid! Beasts don’t care about kindness. Uncontrolled males are the same. I think it still wants to bite her!”

Yan Tu tried to dispel the black fog surrounding the snake, but perhaps due to the distance, her efforts barely made a dent.

She tried to convince Lu Zhan with her eyes.

Lu Zhan said, “No, you can’t risk yourself anymore.”

No number of those males combined could compare to a single strand of Yan Tu’s hair in value.

They did not deserve to be near her.

Nor did they deserve to have such a precious female risk her life to save them.

Yet, unable to resist the pitiful, pleading look in Yan Tu’s eyes, Lu Zhan finally relented, staying close by her side as they approached the black mamba together.

Secretly, his hand rested on the small energy gun he carried.

At the slightest sign of danger, he would protect her and teach the snake a harsh lesson.

The black snake’s scales were hard and sharp. Yan Tu boldly reached out and touched it.

The crowd gasped.

They were so tense they dared not watch, fearful the snake would suddenly turn and bite this audacious young female.

After a breath held in suspense, the snake did not attack.

“Good, you’re very obedient,” Yan Tu whispered praise.

She remembered it was a male beastman, not a mere animal, so she did not push too far—only gently stroked its head to soothe it.

Then, she concentrated.

This time, the black fog before her rapidly weakened, breaking apart and dissipating.

Under the young female’s gentle touch, the snake gradually shifted from restless agitation to calm.

It coiled around Yan Tu’s wrist, but carefully—not to attack, but to hold on.

Its venomous fangs were retracted. It looked far less aggressive, peacefully entwined with the young female.

A profound silence fell over the scene, as everyone was stunned by this unbelievable sight.

By the beast god above! Could this be real?

They couldn’t comprehend what Yan Tu had done, only that she seemed to possess some mysterious power, taming a raging, uncontrolled male beast into submission.

Even the regulatory bureau tasked with containing such uncontrollable beasts had to resort to violence.

To witness such a peaceful, bloodless scene was like a dream.

The delicate-featured young female’s eyes held compassion and tenderness, saving the male beastman fallen into despair.

The onlookers were awestruck and moved.

Lu Zhan gazed at Yan Tu with admiration.

Suddenly, he noticed the owner of the apothecary rushing over. He was about to frown and say he had no time for talk.

But this time, the apothecary owner’s attention was not on him.

The middle-aged male, tears streaming down his face, knelt and raised his arms, shouting, “Beast God’s envoy! The Beast God has sent this lady! She must be the envoy of the Beast God!”
