“What do their letter tattoos represent?”

Su Cheng continued questioning her.

Remi did not answer directly. “Do you know how much these pieces of information are worth? This time, you answer my question first.”

Su Cheng nodded. “All right. Ask away. I’ll answer anything except questions about my true identity.”

Remi slowly shifted her legs, crossing them without the slightest concern that she might reveal too much.

“Why are you investigating Evil? I want to hear your story.”

Su Cheng’s gaze gradually turned cold. “That I can tell you. They killed my parents.”

He drew a deep breath. “On the street, they dismembered my parents right in front of me and carried them away. Then they threw me at the edge of the ruins. I was lucky enough to survive and make it back to the Abandoned City.”

He did not give a specific time, nor did he reveal that his eyes had been gouged out. He also concealed the exact location.

Any of those details might allow Remi to uncover his true identity.

Besides, what he had described was nothing unusual. Raiders could commit such atrocities at any time and in any place.

Finding the truth from that would be no easier than searching for a needle in the ocean.

“I more or less guessed that was what happened. They’re raiders, after all. Although they can control the Black Death virus, the damage it does to their brains is irreversible.”

Remi showed no surprise. “So you’re looking for X? But you’ve already had your revenge.”

Su Cheng shook his head. “No. I’m looking for C.”

Remi froze slightly at his words. Only after a long while did she slowly draw on her cigarette.

“Hiss… Whoosh…”

She regarded Su Cheng seriously. “I advise you to give up. You may never be able to take your revenge.”

Su Cheng asked in confusion, “Why?”

When he had killed X, X had also told him that he would never be able to avenge himself.

“Because you’re too weak.”

Remi’s words were blunt. “You’re strong, but you’re still too weak.

“There’s no contradiction. The comparison is simply being made against different opponents.

“Compared with ordinary Hunters, you’re very strong. You’re only a junior Hunter, yet you possess the strength of an advanced Hunter. You even killed X alone. But that still isn’t enough. Have you ever seen a true powerhouse?”

As she reached the end of her sentence, the aura around Remi changed.

Su Cheng sensed an intense warning of danger. His body tensed instinctively, and Insight activated in an instant.

But soon afterward, Remi returned to normal.

“Hunters are nothing more than a rabble—a tool the Waste Disposal Plant uses to clean up garbage.”

Remi spoke with contempt. “But Evil is not garbage. The Waste Disposal Plant told you that nutrient fluid can strengthen your body, didn’t it?”

“Yes.”

From Zhang Jie and the others, Su Cheng had learned that every Hunter believed the same thing.

Remi gave a disdainful laugh. “Nutrient fluid is nothing more than nutrient fluid! Strengthen your body? Ha. What a joke!”

Su Cheng was not surprised. The rich certainly knew far more than the Hunters.

This was the information cocoon. Your station restricted you, trapping you within an information prison constructed by those above you.

Only by climbing to their level could you break through that wall.

“There are genuine enhancement drugs that can strengthen the body, but they are obscenely expensive. Almost no one can afford them.”

Remi stubbed out her cigarette with a smile. “That piece of information comes at a price too. Apart from a small number of people at the top, no one else knows. Nutrient fluid is merely a dream the Waste Disposal Plant has woven for the Hunters.”

Su Cheng wanted to tell her that he already knew all of this—and that he had never asked her to explain it.

But he still had another question. “You haven’t finished.”

Remi rose and took two bottles of purified water from the refrigerator. “I said you were too weak because I was comparing you with the Evil ranked C.”

Su Cheng raised an eyebrow. “The Ultimate Evils?”

Remi handed him one bottle, opened the other, and took two sips before setting it down.

Purified water trickled from the corner of her mouth. She extended her tongue and deftly licked it away, deliberately smiling at Su Cheng as she did so.

“Among Evil, the top nine ranked individuals are called the Ultimate Evils. Their rankings begin with S, descend through A, and end with H. Their strength follows the same order.

“The X you killed was merely an ordinary member at the very bottom of the hierarchy.”

Su Cheng finally understood why X had reacted so violently when he said that X did not count as Evil.

He had inadvertently struck a nerve.

Remi continued, “Even an ordinary member is extremely powerful. Among the Ultimate Evils, there is also a distinction known as the Upper Four and Lower Five.

“In other words, the top four are even more powerful. And the C you’re looking for is ranked among the Upper Four.”

Su Cheng was somewhat shocked.

The Ultimate Evils.

The Upper Four.

He had never imagined that C was one of the strongest individuals within Evil.

X’s Rending Fang had nearly blinded him. If C was even stronger than that…

His own strength was nowhere near sufficient.

But he did not lose heart.

As long as he possessed the Eye of Dimensions, he could grow stronger without limit.

After Remi finished speaking, she fell silent and observed Su Cheng’s condition.

Although he wore a mask, she could still sense that he had frozen when he first heard C’s rank.

He had clearly been shocked.

Yet he recovered almost immediately.

Even when faced with the pressure of her displayed strength, he showed no discomfort.

Such resilience and determination were extraordinarily rare. His true strength was even more difficult to gauge.

At first, Remi had merely thought Su Cheng was somewhat interesting.

Later, she encountered him again while pursuing a bounty. When she discovered that his strength was far greater than she had imagined—and that he had even killed a member of Evil—her interest deepened. She became all the more eager to toy with him.

Yet, just as when they had first met, he completely ignored her allure and remained unmoved by her beauty.

She almost wanted to tear off Su Cheng’s mask at once and uncover his identity.

When they had been pressed close together, she had confirmed that he was neither impotent nor troubled by his sexual orientation.

Any man she could easily seduce was forbidden from even touching her. In the end, she dismantled every one of them and threw them into the trash.

She loved watching men change from burning desire to terror.

Thrilling. Fascinating.

The more restrained a man was, the more she liked him. She looked forward to the final moment all the more, certain that it would be even more stimulating.

Her eyes narrowing slightly, Remi looked at Su Cheng as though he were prey in which she was intensely interested.

She would claim this prey.

It would belong to her alone.

“Whoosh…”

Su Cheng drew a deep breath and looked at Remi seriously. “Thank you.”

This information was extremely important. It had given him a much clearer understanding of Evil—and of C.

“There’s no need to thank me. You can come to the bedroom with me and repay me there.”

Remi produced another cigarette and lit it, her tone teasing.

Su Cheng shook his head helplessly. “Can you find out where they are now?”

Remi pursed her lips, suddenly bored. “No one knows where they are. Aside from appearing today in the 2BSB Administrative District, they were last seen at the place where Z appeared.

“You’ll be able to check once you become an advanced Hunter. Or you could come inside with me now, and I’ll tell you.”

“Forget it. I can find out myself.”

Although he had learned a great deal, the trail ended there. The only remaining clue was the bounty.

“Don’t worry. Now that they’ve appeared, they’ll definitely continue causing trouble.”

Remi lowered her long legs. “All right. Today’s information consultation is over. The consultation fee is one hundred thousand Alliance Credits. That’s a special discount, you know.”

One hundred thousand!

An ordinary person could not hope to earn that much in an entire lifetime, yet she demanded that sum merely for moving her lips.

Su Cheng placed the source-code carrier for the Bone Virus on the table. “Use this to cover the consultation fee. Then help me purchase a batch of E-grade mechanical prosthetics. The more, the better. E-grade only.”

“What? You expect one lousy metal block not only to cover my consultation fee, but also to pay for the prosthetics I buy for you?”

Remi laughed incredulously. “I only wanted to sleep with you and dismantle you afterward, but you’re treating me like an idiot and trying to swindle money out of me?”
