Chapter 55 Worth Tens of Millions!

After entering the giant vine forest, Tang Zhen realized that the interior of this forest was completely barren. However, on these strange giant vines, there grew a kind of fungus-like organism. On some of the enormous vines, this fungus grew so densely that it was impenetrable, giving off a very eerie appearance.
Seeing this bizarre environment, Tang Zhen couldn’t help but become tense.
After quickly surveying his surroundings, his gaze shifted to the ground.
The bearded man had been shot twice in close succession; naturally, there were blood drops on the ground as he fled. Tang Zhen began to track forward by following the blood trail.
Estimating the bearded man’s blood loss, Tang Zhen concluded that this guy couldn’t have gotten very far. He walked steadily through the giant vine forest, staying alert and vigilantly scanning the area to prevent any sudden monster ambushes.
After pursuing about seven or eight hundred meters, Tang Zhen’s eyes narrowed as he spotted the bearded man slumped under a large tree, partially hidden beneath the giant vines.
The bearded man was drenched in blood, barely clinging to life. Upon seeing Tang Zhen, his pale face strangely flushed with a faint red glow before he burst into a mad, raucous laugh.
“Hahaha, you really came after me. Since you want my life, then I’ll take you down with me—let’s die together!”
After shouting hoarsely, the bearded man suddenly darted forward, pushing aside a pile of weeds nearby to reveal a bird egg he had been clutching.
Cackling wildly, he raised a stone and smashed it down hard onto the egg. With a crisp crack, the egg shattered completely.
Watching the egg white slowly oozing out and the bearded man’s triumphant laughter, Tang Zhen felt a sudden ominous chill rise in his heart.
He didn’t have time to ponder why the man acted so bizarrely—he just wanted to kill him immediately!
Just as Tang Zhen prepared to open fire, hurried footsteps approached from nearby. Several four-legged skeletal serpent birds appeared before him.
Seeing the shattered egg, these skeletal serpent birds let out furious roars. One of them viciously pecked at the grinning bearded man, tearing his head clean off.
The bird shook its neck, flinging the man’s severed head through the air. It landed on the grass right in front of Tang Zhen.
The bearded man’s bloodied head still stared wide-eyed at Tang Zhen, a faint sinister smile lingering at the corner of his mouth.
He wanted to watch Tang Zhen die, torn to pieces by the skeletal serpent birds!

Unfortunately for the bearded man, his imagined scene of Tang Zhen being panicked and ripped apart by the skeletal serpent birds did not come true. Instead, Tang Zhen remained completely calm, smiled at the severed head, and suddenly vanished without a trace.
The bearded man’s eyes bulged as regret flooded his mind in the final moments before consciousness slipped away, plunging him into endless darkness.
Suddenly, Tang Zhen’s figure appeared inside his own home, still holding the rifle.
Glancing around the familiar surroundings, Tang Zhen shook his head and chuckled quietly. He stored the rifle away in his spatial pocket, then took off the tattered clothes and tossed them into the trash bin.
This mission had been perilous. Without the teleportation ability, Tang Zhen wasn’t confident he could have escaped alive from those enraged skeletal serpent birds.
That bearded man was truly a troublemaker, trying to cheat him even in death.
Tang Zhen sighed. Although he had eliminated the bearded man and his group today, whether he could evade the investigation of the bearded man’s team remained uncertain.
Despite previous conflicts over stolen loot, it wasn’t a mortal grudge. If not for the greedy look the bearded man had cast at his stall, Tang Zhen might not have felt compelled to kill him.
But since he had entertained such sinister thoughts, Tang Zhen absolutely could not spare him.
Well, he would take things one step at a time. If pushed too far, he’d fight to the death and wipe them all out. After all, he could teleport—let’s see who laughs last!
Clenching his fist, a fierce determination gleamed in Tang Zhen’s eyes.
Now that he was back home, he decided to go out shopping. He wasn’t willing to take the risk of the skeletal serpent birds still lurking nearby.
After washing up and changing clothes, Tang Zhen left his house. This time, he headed to the provincial capital to buy some goods unavailable locally.
The bus sped along the highway, arriving at the provincial capital after several hours. Tang Zhen took a taxi straight to the busiest part of the city.
Sitting in the taxi, Tang Zhen contemplated his development plans for the upcoming period in the Lou City world.
The arrival of the corpse clan had caught him off guard. They were not ordinary monsters but organized invaders. They slaughtered all living beings they encountered, severely hindering Tang Zhen’s ambition to build a city.
Initially, he had considered the Black Rock City as his main rival, but now the corpse clan had become his top enemy. Given his enmity with the Spiritual Brain Corpse King, Tang Zhen’s primary task was to eradicate the corpse clan’s wild buildings that had appeared in Lou City.

As long as the wild buildings of the corpse clan were cleared out, Tang Zhen believed the roaming corpse clans would lose their strongholds and no longer be able to cause trouble.
Considerable funds had been invested in Lou City recently. Now, with the corpse clan as a formidable enemy, fighting back would require forming a team, meaning even more capital would be needed. The money Tang Zhen had was clearly insufficient.
This trip to the provincial capital was also aimed at seeking new sources of income.
He had stored many items in his space, including a piece of green jade obtained from Black Rock City’s square. Tang Zhen had researched it on the way and increasingly believed it to be jadeite.
If that were true, judging by the quality, it should fetch a good price.
Jin Yu Jewelry was a famous jewelry chain within the federation, reportedly worth nearly one hundred billion, with stores nationwide.
At that moment, Tang Zhen sat inside one of their provincial capital branches, waiting for the appraisal results of the jade he was selling. Looking at the valuable jewelry in the display case, a thoughtful expression crossed his eyes.
The appraisal confirmed it was top-grade jadeite, with excellent quality. After negotiations, Tang Zhen sold the jade for twenty million!
The huge sum sent his blood pressure soaring, but thanks to his strong self-control, he avoided losing composure in public.
After leaving the jewelry store, Tang Zhen went on a shopping spree at the mall. Then, through a real estate agent, he purchased a reasonably located second-hand apartment.
The apartment was 180 square meters and move-in ready, saving Tang Zhen a lot of trouble.
Earning over ten million in a day, only to spend over a million shortly after, made Tang Zhen, a formerly poor boy, feel as if he were living in another world.
Yet, only now did Tang Zhen realize that beyond the initial thrill, money no longer brought him excitement. Instead, his desire to build Lou City grew ever stronger now that financial worries were gone.
Clenching his fist and feeling the powerful energy within, Tang Zhen confirmed this was truly the goal he pursued!
