Chapter Twenty: The Miraculous Ointment!
Page 1/3
Tang Zhen’s wounds were healing at an astonishing rate—such an abnormal occurrence was hard to overlook. Nearby, Murong Ziyan and Qian Long, along with the others, witnessed the strange changes at Tang Zhen’s injury site. After watching for a while, the two exchanged looks of confusion and shock. Clearly, even for these natives, this was the first time encountering such a miraculous sight.
Murong Ziyan stared at Tang Zhen’s wound with a puzzled expression and said, “Although Ivy Ointment is precious and indeed effective for healing, it doesn’t act this instantly. This is almost like the legendary Divine Power Elixir.”
Qian Long nodded in agreement, clearly never having seen wounds heal at such a speed before.
“Divine Power Elixir?” Tang Zhen, marveling at the ointment’s effects, looked up and asked, “What is the Divine Power Elixir? Is it similar to this Ivy Ointment?”
Murong Ziyan nodded and explained, “The Divine Power Elixir is a miraculous medicine originating from Lou City, crafted by esteemed alchemists. It has many wondrous effects—some detoxify, some enhance combat abilities, and some heal wounds. It’s said that as long as the injury isn’t fatal, healing elixirs can cure them in no time.”
Seeing Tang Zhen absorbed in her explanation, Murong Ziyan pursed her lips slightly and added, “Although the Divine Power Elixir is potent, its price is terrifyingly high. My father once bought a bottle at an auction in another Lou City. He said it cost a hundred fifth-level brain beads—that’s equivalent to one million first-level brain beads!”
Tang Zhen was stunned by the price—a million brain beads equated to ten million gold coins! By that calculation, the Lou City lords selling these elixirs must be making a fortune.
While secretly envying this, Tang Zhen listened as Murong Ziyan shared more rumors about the Divine Power Elixir. She also told him that this Ivy Ointment could be ingested with water to heal internal injuries effectively.
Upon hearing this, Tang Zhen didn’t hesitate to swallow a small piece. Curious about the ointment’s internal effects, he was eager to test whether it worked as miraculously inside the body.
The result pleased him greatly; the oppressive pain in his chest immediately eased, and breathing no longer caused sharp discomfort. Simultaneously, he felt a faint stream of qi flowing through his chest, followed by an itching sensation so intense it made him want to scream hysterically.
Moments later, Tang Zhen suddenly coughed violently, expelling some black clots of blood from his mouth.
The series of strange symptoms displayed by Tang Zhen left Murong Ziyan and the others wide-eyed with shock, yet he was thrilled, as the ointment’s miraculous effects seemed to reveal a golden path ahead.
This world’s precious ointments exhibited extraordinary effects on Tang Zhen, a man from another world. He wondered if they would be just as effective on other Earthlings.
If truly effective, this could be a lucrative opportunity! Even if useless in his original world, stocking up on these ointments for emergency healing would be a valuable life-saving resource.
Determined, Tang Zhen resolved to keep a close eye on any news about Ivy plants. If he ever encountered them, no matter the cost, he would obtain them.
Survival in a strange world was his top priority.
He asked the two about Ivy and was told it only grew in remote, treacherous valleys inhabited by fierce monsters. Gathering such herbs was extremely dangerous, but since some Lou Cities with alchemists offered high rewards for them, wandering exploration teams often ventured out to collect these plants.

Behind such massive profits, enormous risks lurked. It was common for wandering exploration teams to be wiped out by monsters. This danger was why these medicinal herbs commanded such exorbitant prices.
The piece of ointment Murong Ziyan held had been brought out by her father’s subordinate while fleeing the Lou City; its original owner was her father, the city lord.
As she spoke, Murong Ziyan helped apply medicine to Qian Long and Big Bear’s wounds, carefully wrapping their bandages.
Once their wounds were treated, the three lay on their beds, staring at each other wide-eyed.
There had been no special sensations before, but once they lay down, pain and exhaustion hit them simultaneously, and they quickly fell into a deep sleep.
They slept soundly until Tang Zhen awoke the next afternoon.
Qian Long and Big Bear had also woken up. After drinking two bowls of meat porridge cooked by Murong Ziyan, Tang Zhen stretched comfortably, a contented smile on his face.
Seeing Big Bear holding a small basin while drinking porridge, Tang Zhen chuckled and turned to Qian Long, saying, “I’ve been thinking—revenge can wait. Let them have their fun for a few days. I’ll strike once I’m healed.”
Qian Long’s face showed a flicker of reluctance but soon settled quietly as he listened.
Noticing Qian Long’s expression, Tang Zhen guessed he was struggling to suppress his anger but said nothing. After a pause, he continued, “I plan to bring in a batch of goods to sell. Since I’m unfamiliar with this place, I’ll leave that to you.”
“While selling, you’d better recruit some reliable subordinates. I’ll handle the equipment.”
Taking a deep breath, Tang Zhen sighed and added, “We’re too few in number. That puts us at a disadvantage in battle. If we want to build a Lou City someday, recruiting sooner rather than later is essential.”
Qian Long, bandaged and leaning against the bed, silently nodded.
Though his expression was calm, Tang Zhen sensed a burning anger beneath. Had Tang Zhen not decided to delay their revenge, Qian Long might have already sought out the bearded man for vengeance.
Big Bear, carefree despite his injuries, happily played with the toys Tang Zhen had brought, showing a clumsy yet careful demeanor that was amusing to watch.
After their discussion, Tang Zhen lay back on the bed, seemingly staring blankly at the cave ceiling, but in truth, he was absorbing two second-level brain beads Big Bear had brought back.
As he had guessed, these two second-level monster brain beads exchanged for 200 gold coins, at a rate of one bead to one hundred coins.
Seeing this exchange rate, Tang Zhen felt a sharp pang of pain, his hatred for the bearded man intensifying. For him now, gold coins represented safety and increased combat power—losing even one was painful.
Coupled with the previous humiliation and threat, his hatred for the bearded man was no less than Qian Long’s.
The days of healing were dull, but thanks to Murong Ziyan’s Ivy Ointment’s miraculous effect, Tang Zhen could walk freely after just three days.
Early one morning, he stepped outside the cave to breathe fresh air, reminding Murong Ziyan to take care of the wounded while he tidied his equipment and leisurely left the camp.
Half an hour later, Tang Zhen teleported back to his home.
Shaking off the surreal feeling, he washed and changed, then cleaned his house before stepping out.
He traveled by carriage to the outskirts of the city, recalling several blacksmith shops he’d seen before.
After getting off, he browsed around and chose one blacksmith shop to enter.

The blacksmith shop was empty of customers. A burly, bearded middle-aged man wearing a vest sat at a table, drinking beer and gnawing on a pig’s trotter. Seeing Tang Zhen enter, he wiped his mouth and spoke in a hearty voice.
“Hey there, brother. What do you need?”
“I want to make a hundred large knives from automobile bow springs. Can you do it?” Tang Zhen glanced around the shop’s setup and asked.
“Why so many knives?” The man scrutinized Tang Zhen closely before asking.
“I’m opening an online shop specializing in knives and swords. You know about online shopping, right?” Tang Zhen casually explained.
The man stood, finished his last sip of beer, and nodded. “Others might not take your order, but I can. The price won’t be cheap. You in or out?”
“I’m in. Tell me the price first.”
After negotiating, Tang Zhen outlined his requirements and emphasized he wanted the order as soon as possible.
He promised the owner that if the quality was good, all future work would go to him.
After paying a partial deposit and setting an approximate pickup time, Tang Zhen left the blacksmith shop.
Having worked most of the day, Tang Zhen felt hungry and went to a small spicy hotpot shop. He chose a portion and sat down to wait.
The restaurant quickly filled with customers during lunch, mostly young people.
At Tang Zhen’s table sat three girls who looked like students, chatting animatedly about their interests.
Tang Zhen’s hearing had become extremely sharp, and the chatter filled his ears. Listening to their fashion talk, he felt a bit old, though he was only in his early twenties.
Lost in thought, just as the spicy hotpot arrived and he took the number tag, Tang Zhen began eating.
Hungry, he quickly finished the meal, wiped his mouth, and stood to leave.
As he left, the three girls at the same table also paid their bill and followed him out.
While walking and pondering, Tang Zhen planned to quickly cross the street when suddenly a muffled noise reached his ears, followed by screeching brakes and shrieks.
Turning, he saw a wildly swerving off-road vehicle suddenly speeding toward him like a madman.
